# Life By You, Phone by Google (Google Pixel · 2022)

## Insight
Smartphone photography democratised image-making but did not democratise whose stories get told. Google Pixel was built from the ground up to photograph all skin tones equally — a technical fact that could be communicated as a cultural statement.

## Mechanic
Long-form films showing real people's actual lives — in all their visual variety and colour range — captured by Pixel cameras. The "Life By You" framing emphasises that the phone serves the user's story, not a manufactured aspiration. The product proof is the image quality on screen.

## Why it worked
Long-form drama (P16): the film's emotional effect depends on accumulation — multiple real lives, multiple moments — rather than a single persuasive claim. The product feature (skin-tone camera calibration) is expressed through the subject matter rather than through a spec sheet. Authenticity of real people > aspirational casting.

## Steal
When your product has a technical feature that is actually a social feature, show it in the lives it enables rather than in the lab where it was built. The feature disappears; the life remains.
