# Active work and handoffs

For each multi-session task, maintain one checkpoint containing task ID, human
decision owner, executing agent, claimed files/scope, goal, completed work,
confirmed decisions, changed artifacts, open issues, next action and update date.

Before writing, re-read the checkpoint and affected files. Claim disjoint work
or coordinate a handoff with the current editor. Avoid simultaneous edits to
shared indexes/state/decision IDs. A Markdown claim is advisory; it does not lock
files or guarantee that a cloud sync has completed. Verify the receiver sees the
latest files before handing off across devices.

After a phase, save the checkpoint and read back changes. On completion, move its
record from `Active/` to `Archive/` and remove it from current routes. Keep pending
work in the [backlog](../Backlog/Index.md).
