Northfield Manufacturing announced today that it will open a second production facility in Rockford, Illinois, adding an estimated 240 jobs over the next 18 months.

The 190,000-square-foot plant will produce hydraulic components for agricultural equipment, a line the company currently makes only at its Waterloo site. Production is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of next year.

"Waterloo has been running at capacity since 2024, and we have been turning down orders," said Dale Brennan, the company's chief operating officer. "Rockford gives us room, and it puts us closer to three of our largest customers."

The company said it will invest 74 million dollars in the facility. Hiring for supervisory roles begins in January, with production staff to follow in the spring. Northfield employs 1,100 people across four states.
