# Wheelchair Basketball (Guinness · 1999)

## Insight
True friendship means meeting people where they are — even if that means giving something up. The deepest loyalty isn't shown in words but in the willingness to take on someone else's limitation as your own.

## Mechanic
A group of men play an intensely competitive wheelchair basketball game. At the end, they all stand up — they are not disabled. One of them is. They did it for him. The final frame: a pint of Guinness. "Guinness. Good things come to those who wait."

## Why it worked
The inversion (reveal: they're not in wheelchairs) earned emotional impact through withholding information rather than stating it. The truth of the friendship — we played as your equal so you would feel like ours — arrived as insight rather than instruction. No dialogue about loyalty; only its demonstration.

## Steal
The twist is not a trick — it's a reframe. Build a film where the audience forms an assumption, then reveal that the assumption was based on an incomplete truth. The correction should deepen rather than undermine what they just felt.
