# Routing standards

- Reconcile calendar dates, nights, check-in/out, and transport days.
- Favor open-jaw routing when it removes meaningful backtracking after accounting for price and schedule.
- For roughly 10 days, default to two bases; add another only for a materially different experience or substantial time saving.
- Include airport/station arrival buffers, luggage, pickup or parking, breaks, and check-in constraints.
- Check seasonal roads, ferry frequency, daylight, last return, and driving difficulty when relevant.
- Keep most transfer days below half a day when the brief permits.
- Pair nearby activities; reject attractive options that create fragile connections or repeated cross-city travel.
- Provide a weather or closure substitute for every outdoor anchor.
- Clearly label travel times as scheduled, mapped, or estimated.
