# Fictional example: a short mathematics assignment

Use only when the teacher requests an example without providing their own data. Say that the assignment and student are fictional. For a complete walkthrough, prepare I1, evaluate V1, then demonstrate V2 using the same I1. If demonstrating a rubric edit, keep the total at 10 and label which instruction version each evaluation uses.

## Teacher material M1, page 1

Title: Equations and area. Maximum: 10 points.

Q1. Solve `2x + 3 = 11`. Show your working. Worth 5 points:
- Subtract 3 from both sides to obtain `2x = 8`: 2 points.
- Divide both sides by 2: 1 point.
- Correct answer `x = 4`: 2 points.

Q2. Find the area of a rectangle 4 cm long and 3 cm wide. Show the formula and include units. Worth 5 points:
- Correct area formula `A = length × width`: 2 points.
- Substitute the given dimensions in that area formula: 1 point.
- Correct numerical result `12`: 1 point.
- Correct area units `cm²`: 1 point.

These are the assigned tasks and the teacher's explicit rubric. Do not deduct for stylistic preferences or require another method.

## Sample student alias: Student A

V1, text1:

> Q1: 2x + 3 = 11. Subtract 3: 2x = 8. Divide by 2: x = 4.
> Q2: A = 2 × (4 + 3) = 14 cm.

V2, text1 (a later student revision):

> Q1: 2x + 3 = 11. Subtract 3: 2x = 8. Divide by 2: x = 4.
> Q2: A = length × width = 4 × 3 = 12 cm².

Use V1 as the sample if generating instructions. Its second answer is student evidence, not a reference answer. Do not load V2 as evidence while grading V1.
