# Small complaint families

Families holding one or two complaints, kept together rather than shipped as files with a single entry each. Nothing here is less important; there is simply not enough of it to justify a file of its own.

## Prose complaints

### "The prose feels reported rather than experienced"

1. Check the order inside the sentence pair: motivation first, then feeling, then reflex, then action, then speech
   `scene.mru`
2. The commonest error is writing the action before the feeling, which tells the reader what happened instead of letting them have it
3. Do not run strict chains for pages — break the pattern deliberately at moments of shock

---

## Non-conflict complaints

### "They keep telling me to add conflict and the piece doesn't want any"

This is a real craft position, not a failure. Development without conflict is a complete structural tradition, and several formats run on it natively — anime, picture books, commercials, essay film, music video.

1. Use the four-part turn instead of the three-act contest
   `struct.kishotenketsu` · `struct.kishoten_ten`
2. Note that the value-turn test does not apply to a development section
`scene.value_turn` (read the Avoid when field)
3. If the note comes from a commissioner rather than the material, that is a political problem, not a craft one — the card says so plainly
   `struct.kishotenketsu`
