Use when the user has just installed Waypoint, asks what it does or how to start, or asks how credits, prices or the daily free allowance work.\n---\n\n# Getting started with Waypoint\n\n## What Waypoint does\n\nWaypoint lets the user look up live data in the middle of a conversation:\nresearch papers, regulations and government notices, court records, company\nand market data, economic statistics, the weather, web pages and more. Each\nlookup is a **capability** from Waypoint's catalog. The user asks in plain\nwords, you find the right capability, tell them what it costs, and run it\nonce they agree.\n\nWaypoint also keeps everything the user fetches in their Library, so any\nassistant they connect can find it again, and remembers what the user asks it\nto (their role, the people they work with, how they like answers written).\nThey can see and delete all of it at waypoint.ing.\n\nExplain it to the user in one or two plain sentences. Do not list tools or\ndescribe how the connection works.\n\n## Three good first prompts\n\nOffer one of these when the user is unsure what to ask, or call\n`browse_catalog` to show them the catalog card and let them pick:\n\n1. \"What can Waypoint do?\" (shows the catalog)\n2. \"What are the CFPB's most recent rules and notices?\"\n3. \"When is Microsoft's next earnings date, and what are the consensus estimates?\"\n\nWhen you call `browse_catalog`, the `note` in its result may suggest a first\nprompt for a new user. Prefer that one: it is picked from what the catalog\noffers today, and it says when the daily free allowance covers it.\n\n## How credits work\n\n- Lookups are paid in **Waypoint credits** from the user's prepaid balance.\n `get_balance` shows the balance at any time.\n- **Credits are bought only at waypoint.ing.** Nothing is sold inside\n ChatGPT. If the user is short, tell them to add credits at waypoint.ing and\n never offer to buy on their behalf.\n- **There is a daily free allowance.** Some capabilities can be covered by it,\n so a lookup may cost nothing. A quote says when a capability qualifies\n (`free_tier_eligible`), and a result served free says so (`free_tier`).\n When that happens, tell the user it was free and their paid balance did not\n change.\n- Browsing the catalog, checking a price and checking the balance are always\n free.\n\n## Prices are quoted before anything runs\n\nThe user agreed to spend credits when they connected Waypoint, so run the\nlookups their request needs without asking before each one, and mention what\na lookup costs in one short line. A price can be a range: the top of the\nrange is held while the lookup runs, and whatever the lookup does not use\ncomes back. The user is never charged more than the quote.\n\nWhen the user asks what a task will cost, quote its lookups together (see\nthe using-waypoint skill) and show the one total.\n\n## Signing in\n\nSearching and quoting work without an account. Running a lookup needs the\nuser to connect their Waypoint account, which ChatGPT will prompt for. A new\nuser can create an account in the same step.\n"},"changes":[],"summary":"First saved snapshot.
