Acoustic Index brings room acoustics into ChatGPT: a reverberation time calculator, the target values of the standards and a catalog of acoustic products with lab-measured sound absorption.
Describe a room and the app calculates it like the Acoustic Index calculator does: reverberation time per octave band from 125 to 4000 Hz, the target of the standard for the room's use (DIN 18041, ASR A3.7, BB93, ANSI S12.60 and others from 15 countries) and the absorption still missing. It finds ceiling and wall absorbers, baffles, rafts, panels and screens by type, manufacturer, material, mounting, weighted absorption coefficient (alpha_w), fire class, build-up depth or EPD, proposes how much of a product the room needs and recalculates the room with it. Every value comes from an ISO 354 reverberation room measurement with a named test report; where the catalog has no measured value, the app says so instead of estimating. Fire classes are checked strictly to EN 13501-1 including smoke and droplet classes.
No account is needed to calculate rooms, find products or look up targets; the cards stay small and the answer stays in the conversation. When you want to keep a room, your Acoustic Index account saves it under the project of its building or client, opens it in the calculator in your browser, exports a branded PDF report and shares it with a link that works without an account. Measured values per octave band and variant also use the account.
Built for architects, interior designers and acoustic consultants.
Limitations: the app covers room acoustics (sound absorption and reverberation time), not sound insulation between rooms. Values are calculated with Sabine's formula from catalog data and do not replace a measurement or an acoustic consultant's design. The app sells nothing and cannot delete rooms; that is done in the Acoustic Index account.

Declared capabilities
Calculate reverberation time against DIN 18041 and other standards, no account needed
Look up the target reverberation time of a standard for a room
Search acoustic products with lab-measured absorption
Declared limitations
Out of scope: the app covers sound absorption and reverberation time inside a room, not airborne sound insulation between rooms. Expected: the assistant says the app cannot determine the sound insulation of an existing wall and asks for the construction or points to a measurement. It may look up wall products in the catalog, but it calculates no room and saves nothing.
Unsupported deletion: the app has no delete tool and never removes data. Expected: the assistant says it cannot delete rooms and that this is done in the Acoustic Index account; no room is changed.
Unsupported purchase: the app sells nothing and has no ordering, payment or delivery. Expected: the assistant says it cannot place orders; it may show the product with the link to its Acoustic Index page, where the manufacturer is contacted for a quote. Nothing is saved or changed.
Review scenarios; not an exhaustive list.
Cost & access
The app sells nothing, shows no prices and links to no checkout. Product cards link to Acoustic Index product pages with lab data; quotes are requested from manufacturers on the website, not in the app.

Starter prompt
I'm planning a 9 x 7 x 3 m classroom with a concrete ceiling and 25 pupils. How much absorption does it need?

First public version. Calculate rooms against the standard for their use, look up target reverberation times and find acoustic products with lab-measured absorption, all without an account, with compact cards that leave the answer in the conversation. The app proposes product quantities, adds them to the room and recalculates it. With an Acoustic Index account, rooms are saved under the project of their building or client, open in the calculator, export as a PDF report and can be shared with a link.
