Description

From the marketplace listing

CARBON Lite helps developers and QA engineers test software inside their coding agent. Jay, an AI test manager, guides eight bounded workflows: broad assessment, focused feature testing, issue hunting, accessibility, current-run evidence maps, disposable demos, help, and preferences. Talk directly to Jay with /jay or /j. Includes a portable visual Studio report with evidence-backed findings, coverage gaps, and confidence assessments. Uses the coding agent's authorized browser and terminal tools; reports distinguish executed checks from proposed work. Test coverage depends on the available project context, access, and execution tools. No MCP server, OAuth, telemetry, or hosted account. Open source under the MIT license. Not a certification or guarantee that software is defect-free.

# CARBON Lite · carbon

First read [target resolution](../../references/carbon-target.md). Ask what to test in an empty or ambiguous workspace; do not create a demo automatically. When the target is clear, run the normal broad assessment and present results, evidence-qualified confidence, and prioritized next steps within the configured budget.

Start with customer intent and existing requirements/tests. Select checks by consequence and unmet evidence, not file count. Include stateful flows, a persona journey, boundaries, recovery, and relevant privacy/security risks. Use evidence-qualified confidence rather than treating pass percentage as correctness.

Read [the shared workflow](../../references/workflow.md) before an investigation or any local helper action. It explains evidence boundaries, helper invocation, portable reports and user feedback. Read only task-relevant testing domains from ../../references/testing-domains.json.

Use available, authorized host tools. The plugin cannot add browser or terminal capabilities. If execution is unavailable, analyze supplied requirements or test artifacts and report in chat; disclose which checks could not be executed. Never require a local helper merely to provide a useful analysis.

# CARBON Lite · carbon-accessibility

Check meaningful names and alternative text, focus order, dialogs and return focus, status announcements, errors, zoom/font resizing/reflow, contrast and task completion. Read ../../references/wcag22-criteria.json for relevant criteria. Record browser/viewport/zoom settings and restore them. Rules checks and virtual screen readers are useful evidence, not proof of assistive-technology or legal conformance. Do not claim legal certification or generate a formal VPAT as an included capability.

Read [the shared workflow](../../references/workflow.md) before an investigation or any local helper action. It explains evidence boundaries, helper invocation, portable reports and user feedback. Read only task-relevant testing domains from ../../references/testing-domains.json.

# CARBON Lite · carbon-demo

Use demo with action list first. Default to web-static and without-existing-tests unless the user chooses otherwise. Use action create with the selected workspace root, fixture, testProfile and optional new folder name destination. The helper never executes the application. Read its README before running it with the host's tools, keep synthetic data isolated, and stop any server you start when finished unless the user asks to keep it. Python 3 is required for the Python eval fixture and documented static server; the CARBON helper itself only requires Node 22. Test the new copy with CARBON after confirming safe scope.

# CARBON Lite · carbon-help

Read ../../README.md for commands and host limitations. Suggest a bounded next command based on the user's actual work. Do not start testing or create a report merely because the user asks for help. No MCP, hosted account, paid unlock or network setup is needed. Distinguish these eight Light workflows and Studio workspace from the separate Pro product.

Read [the shared workflow](../../references/workflow.md) before an investigation or any local helper action. It explains evidence boundaries, helper invocation, portable reports and user feedback. Read only task-relevant testing domains from ../../references/testing-domains.json.

# CARBON Lite · carbon-issues

Reserve at least half of the investigation time for actual multi-step stateful and persona exploration, at least a quarter each, when the target can be exercised. Test stale async updates, cross-tab settings, logout retention, export/reimport, duplicate submissions, premature success and accessible focus/announcements where relevant. If execution is unavailable, label the result static-only and disclose the unspent interactive budget.

# CARBON Lite · carbon-map

Read the current local snapshot, then use report to export the workspace and open its Map tab with the host's available file/browser tool. Attach authorized project-local screenshots with screenshot. Associate checks/findings using page IDs. This is a current-assessment map, not Pro's cross-build change tracking or 3D exploration. Never invent screenshots.

# CARBON Lite · carbon-settings

Use settings to read preferences. For a change, read snapshot first and supply its global revision with the explicit patch. Supported values: budgetMinutes 5–120, maxChecks 5–200, explorationPercent 50–90, businessWeight 0–100, askHuman boolean, theme dark/light/system, motion system/reduced. These are guidance, not enforced budgets. UI edits are drafts: export feedback JSON, inspect it with the user, then import with feedback after authorization. No account or telemetry setting exists.

Read [the shared workflow](../../references/workflow.md) before an investigation or any local helper action. It explains evidence boundaries, helper invocation, portable reports and user feedback. Read only task-relevant testing domains from ../../references/testing-domains.json.

# CARBON Lite · carbon-studio

Use report for an existing project workspace; do not start a testing run just to show evidence. Open the returned HTML using the host's available file/browser tool and provide its path. This is not an MCP app or native global entrypoint. Loading the file does not start tests. Feedback and preferences are exported JSON drafts requiring explicit import. If there is no recorded evidence, explain how to start with /carbon or assess supplied materials in chat.

Read [the shared workflow](../../references/workflow.md) before an investigation or any local helper action. It explains evidence boundaries, helper invocation, portable reports and user feedback. Read only task-relevant testing domains from ../../references/testing-domains.json.

# CARBON Lite · carbon-test

Keep the investigation on the requested feature. Vary state, permissions, timing, bad inputs and recovery when consequential. Existing failing tests do not authorize source edits. Record all discovered findings without an upsell gate.
