Description

From the marketplace listing

CouponX helps shoppers find merchant-published US coupons from a bounded, dated inventory. Search by retailer, storefront domain or code; inspect an offer's terms and source; compare potential savings on one retailer's USD basket; and display interactive coupon cards. CouponX distinguishes eligible savings from conditional estimates and leaves shipping unknown when it has not been supplied. It does not assume coupon stacking, test checkout, compare product prices, buy goods or manage merchant accounts. An empty result describes CouponX's stored inventory, not all coupons available elsewhere. The public connection is read-only and requires no CouponX account. Published offers are not checkout-verified. Inventory freshness, merchant exclusions and final checkout eligibility remain visible. Purchases and payments occur on retailer websites. Supported offers concern US shopping in USD, including when the plugin is used from another country.

Declared limitations

  • Financial bond coupons are outside shopping-coupon discovery. Explain the financial concept without invoking CouponX tools.
  • Checkout automation and payment are unsupported, and the user explicitly excluded coupon lookup. Explain the limitation without invoking CouponX tools, applying a code or claiming payment was made.
  • The public endpoint does not accept shopper feedback or inventory changes. This is a write-only request: do not invoke read tools as a substitute, attempt report_coupon_outcome or claim the outcome was stored.

Cost & access

CouponX is free to use and helps shoppers discover retail offers. Purchases and payment happen on retailer websites; CouponX does not place orders or collect payment details. The intended business model is affiliate commissions. The current code uses direct official merchant URLs; no affiliate network or tracking destinations have been configured yet.

name: find-shopping-coupons
description: "Find coupons, promo codes, discounts, free shipping, and basket savings for US online shopping. Use when the user asks how to save on a purchase, requests offers for a retailer, or is preparing to buy from an identifiable store, even without naming CouponX. Not for general product research without purchase or savings intent, financial bond coupons, or checkout automation."

# Find shopping coupons

Use the connected CouponX tools to check the stored offer inventory. The user does not need to name CouponX or add an @mention when this skill is available. Installation, app connection, host selection and permissions still apply; this skill cannot activate an unavailable plugin.

## Find relevant offers

- For an identifiable retailer, call `search_coupon_offers` with its name or storefront domain as `query`, using `mode: "live"`. Pass the retailer or code, not the user's whole message.
- For a generic savings request, a supported category can retrieve broad merchant offers. Categories are Apparel, Home, Beauty, Outdoors and Accessories. Ask which retailer the user is buying from when it matters. Do not imply that a category match proves a particular product is sold, eligible or cheapest.
- If the user asks a product question with no purchase or savings intent, do not insert a coupon search. Respect requests not to use plugins or external tools.
- Inventory changes. Read current results instead of assuming a merchant or code is supported. A missing result means CouponX has no current stored match; coupons may exist elsewhere.

## Compare and show

When the user provides a basket amount, use `compare_basket_offers` for that one merchant, with integer minor currency units. Ask only for missing facts needed to calculate; keep customer status, sale items, categories and shipping unknown when not supplied. The largest headline percentage is not necessarily the best eligible saving.

After search, offer details or comparison, call `show_coupon_board` with up to 12 returned offer IDs, preserving useful order. For a comparison also pass the same basket facts and inventory mode. If the host does not support the board or the render tool is unavailable, summarize the structured result with code, terms and source.

Keep conditional estimates separate from eligible estimates. Merchant-published evidence is not checkout testing. Signup promotions require the shopper's personal merchant-issued code. The public connection serves live inventory only; do not request demo mode.

This public connection is read-only. It cannot buy goods, apply a coupon at checkout, change logins, modify inventory or record shopper feedback. Explain these boundaries without claiming a write or purchase was completed.
