Description
From the marketplace listing
Hookest is a library of Instagram Reels hooks (the opening seconds of a video) with real engagement data: views, likes, comments, and a sentiment analysis of those comments. With the Hookest connector, ChatGPT can: - Search the hook library by topic, category, country, or time window, and show this week's newly added hooks - Explain how a specific hook is built, with its metrics and comment analysis - Find hooks with a similar opening style - Show which categories and hook styles are gaining momentum - Draft new hook lines for your topic and measure how long they take to say - Estimate how strong your own video's opening is on a 0–100 scale with the Virality Predictor (attach an MP4 in the chat or upload it on Hookest). Scores are estimates based on comparable hooks, not a guarantee of performance. - Track Instagram accounts you choose and report new posts and follower changes - Manage your saved hooks and the Weekly Hook Radar email When you connect, you choose the permissions on a consent screen, and you can disconnect at any time in your Hookest settings.

competitor-watch2.42 KB
--- name: competitor-watch description: Track competitor and creator Instagram accounts with Hookest and report what changed for them in the last 7 days (new posts, follower changes). Use when the user wants to follow, track or watch a competitor or creator, asks what their competitors posted, or asks about their tracked accounts. --- # Competitor watch with Hookest Goal: keep a short, honest weekly picture of the accounts the user cares about, and add new ones only with the user's say-so. ## Quota and consent - `lookup_creator` and `search_creators` each spend one lookup from the user's daily quota. Search once and pick from the results instead of trying many terms. Call `get_account` if you are unsure how much is left. - Tracking never starts on its own. Show the user what `lookup_creator` returned and call `track_creator` only after they confirm that exact account. - `untrack_creator`, `set_creator_muted` and `set_creator_mail_prefs` change the user's settings. Call them only when the user asks for that change. Before `untrack_creator`, warn that tracking again starts from zero: earlier signals do not come back. ## What changed for my competitors 1. Call `get_creator_signals` without a creator to get every tracked account at once, or with a handle for one. 2. Report per account: new posts in the last 7 days and the follower change. Lead with the accounts that moved most. Link posts that are in the Hookest library to their Hookest page. 3. If nothing changed, say so in one line rather than padding the report. 4. After the user has read the report, offer to call `mark_signals_seen` with the `signal_ids` you showed (or `creator` for one account) so the same changes do not show up again. Call it only if they agree. Use `mark_all` only when they ask to clear everything. ## Track a new account 1. Have a handle or profile URL: call `lookup_creator`. No handle yet: call `search_creators` once with the brand or niche. 2. Show name, handle, followers and whether the account is verified. 3. After the user confirms, call `track_creator` with the returned id. 4. Call `list_tracked_creators` if slots may be full and tell the user how many are left. If tracking is not available with the user's plan, say so plainly. ## Be honest about the data Signals cover the last 7 days and only accounts the user tracks. Hookest does not report a competitor's ad spend, reach or engagement rate. Do not estimate them.
hook-research2.46 KB
---
name: hook-research
description: Research real viral Instagram Reels hooks for a product, niche or topic using the Hookest library. Use when the user asks what hooks are working right now, wants real examples for an ad or video, or wants a short hook brief before writing.
---
# Hook research with Hookest
Goal: give the user real, recent hook examples for their topic and a short brief
they can write from. Everything comes from the Hookest MCP tools. Do not invent
examples or metrics.
## Steps
1. **Get valid filters.** Call `list_filters` once. Use only the category slugs
and country codes it returns. Note the window counts: short windows (7d, 30d)
can hold very few hooks.
2. **Search.** Call `find_hooks` with:
- `query`: the product or topic in a few words
- `category_slugs`: the closest one or two categories, if any fit
- `added_window`: `7d` or `30d` when the user asks for "this week", "new"
or "latest" hooks (added to Hookest), paired with `sort: views`
- `window`: only when the user means the Instagram post date. Pick one with
enough hooks according to `list_filters` (default `all`)
- `sort`: `trending` unless the user asks otherwise
- `limit`: 10
If the result is thin, drop the query and search by category only, then say
that you widened the search.
3. **Go deeper on the best 3.** Call `get_hook` for the top results
(`comment_limit: 3`) to get metrics, the emotion radar and what commenters
reacted to. Use `find_similar_hooks` on the single strongest one if the user
wants more of the same kind.
4. **Write the brief.** Keep it short:
- The 3 to 5 strongest examples: account, views, why it likely works
(based on the metrics and comments, not guesses), and the Hookest link
- What they have in common: angle, emotion, length, format
- 2 or 3 directions the user could take for their own product
## Be honest about the data
- The library is Instagram Reels only. Do not claim TikTok or YouTube coverage.
- A library item's caption is not the spoken hook. Do not present it as a
transcript.
- Hookest has no data on hook patterns (curiosity gap, pattern interrupt and
so on). If asked, say so and describe what the examples have in common instead.
- Hookest cannot analyse an arbitrary Instagram URL. If the user pastes one that
`get_hook` does not find, say it is not in the library and offer `find_hooks`.
## Next step
If the user wants new hooks for their own product, continue with the
`write-hooks` skill.
swipe-file1.82 KB
--- name: swipe-file description: Work with the user's saved Hookest hooks (their swipe file) - list them, save or remove hooks, find more like a saved one, download the hook clip or open it in the Hook Editor. Use when the user mentions their saved hooks, their list or swipe file, asks to save a hook, or wants the video file of a hook. --- # Swipe file with Hookest Goal: make the user's saved hooks useful: easy to review, easy to extend, and ready to put in front of their own video. ## Review the swipe file 1. Call `list_saved_hooks` (`limit: 24`, page with `offset` if there are more). 2. Group the hooks by category and show account, views and the Hookest link for each. Mention which ones were added most recently. 3. Point out what the saved hooks have in common (category, length, format) based on the data that came back. Do not invent pattern labels. ## Save or remove Call `set_hook_saved` only for hooks the user named in this conversation, with `saved: true` to add and `false` to remove. Confirm what changed in one line. ## Grow it For "more like this", call `find_similar_hooks` on the saved hook the user picks (`exclude_same_account: true` keeps the results varied). Offer to save the ones they like. ## Use a hook - **Video file:** `get_hook_download` returns the hook clip (the opening seconds as mp4). It is not available on every plan and is the only way to give a video file. Never hand out thumbnail, source or Instagram URLs as a download. Only the hook clip exists, not the full reel. - **Hook Editor:** every hook result has an `open_in_editor_url` that puts the hook in front of the user's own video on Hookest. Share that link. - If an action is not available with the user's plan, say so plainly. Do not quote prices or offers. To write new hooks from the saved ones, continue with the `write-hooks` skill.
video-check2.43 KB
---
name: video-check
description: Score the opening of the user's own video with the Hookest Virality Predictor before they post it, and explain what holds it back. Use when the user asks to score, rate, review or check their video, Reel, TikTok or Short, asks if it will go viral, or asks how to improve their first 3 seconds.
---
# Video check with the Hookest Virality Predictor
Goal: get the user an official Hookest score (0 to 100) for the opening of
their video, then turn the result into concrete fixes.
## What it can and cannot do
- It scores the OPENING of a video FILE against proven viral hooks. It does not
estimate view counts. If asked for views, say so and offer the score.
- It needs a file, not a link. For an Instagram or TikTok link, ask the user to
save the video and attach the file, or upload it on Hookest.
- `get_account` shows the plan and how many analyses are left. If the tool
says the feature is not available with the current account, tell the user
that plainly. Do not quote prices or offers.
## Steps
1. **Video attached in the chat, and you can read it with code.**
Read its duration and size, then call `upload_prediction_video` with
`duration_seconds`, `bytes` and the user's `language`. It reserves one
analysis and returns a one-time upload URL on files.hookest.com and a ready
`curl` command. Upload the attached file to that URL unchanged, then call
`run_prediction` with the `prediction_id`.
- The upload takes mp4 only, up to 32 seconds and 40 MB. Only the opening is
scored, so a longer video can be trimmed to its first 30 seconds first.
2. **No attachment, the file cannot be read, or files.hookest.com cannot be
reached.** Call `start_prediction` and give the user its `upload_url`, a
Hookest page where they upload the video while signed in. When they say it
is done, call `get_prediction`.
3. **Waiting.** If the status is `queued` or `running`, wait a few seconds and
call `get_prediction` with the same id until it finishes.
## Output
- The score and its band, exactly as returned
- What holds the opening back, in the tool's own terms, then 2 or 3 concrete
edits for the first seconds (cut, text on screen, first line, first visual)
- If it fits, 2 or 3 real library hooks from `find_hooks` in the same niche to
borrow an opening from, with their Hookest links
If the user wants to compare with earlier videos, call `list_predictions` and
`get_prediction` with the ids they mean.
write-hooks1.68 KB
--- name: write-hooks description: Write new opening lines (hooks) for a user's ad, Reel or UGC video, grounded in real examples from the Hookest library. Use when the user asks for hook ideas, ad openers, first lines or scroll-stoppers for their product. --- # Writing hooks with Hookest Goal: hand the user a short list of hooks they can film today, each one tied to a real pattern from the library rather than generic advice. ## Steps 1. **Understand the brief.** You need the product, the audience and the language of the video. Ask only for what is missing, in one question. 2. **Ground it in real examples.** If you have not done it yet in this conversation, run the `hook-research` steps first (`list_filters`, then `find_hooks`). Pick 3 strong examples to write from. 3. **Write the hooks yourself.** Write 5 to 8 hooks. For each one: - the hook line itself, short enough to say in about 3 seconds - one line on which library example or angle it borrows from - a suggested first on-screen visual 4. **Check the length.** Run `score_hook_text` on each draft and drop or trim any that take too long to say. Only score text you or the user wrote, never a library caption. 5. **Optional: Hookest's generator.** `generate_hooks` writes hooks on Hookest's side, but it uses the user's daily generation quota. Do not call it unless the user asks for it or agrees when you offer. Call `get_account` first if you are unsure how much quota is left. Never quote prices; if a limit is hit, tell the user when it resets. ## Output A numbered list of hooks with the notes above, the 3 source examples with their Hookest links, and one line suggesting which hook to test first and why.
