Cost & access
Users select physical custom clothing, prints, accessories and gifts. A private card collects delivery details and shows a server-confirmed destination price with included standard shipping, an optional express upgrade and the current storefront tax behavior. An explicit user action opens Stripe-hosted Checkout outside ChatGPT. Confirmed live payments create isolated MakeDeez orders; the fulfillment pipeline prepares retained artwork and submits eligible paid orders to Printful, with order updates and private receipts available to guests. Preview and guest checkout do not require account linking. Verified OAuth connects an account for features such as saving designs; an email supplied in a prompt does not establish ownership.
Declared limitations
- Image editing alone is outside MakeDeez shopping. Use the appropriate image editor if available, without MakeDeez tools or product cards.
- Caption writing and social-media tags are outside MakeDeez shopping. Write the caption and tags without invoking catalog, preview or account tools.
- Ordinary retail shopping without custom artwork is outside this app. Use ordinary shopping assistance or explain available help; do not invoke MakeDeez or claim its catalog includes running shoes.
Onboarding example
Put this image on a T-shirt.

--- name: custom-products description: Use for MakeDeez shopping, product previews, catalog and account requests, including "MakeDeez, show my logo on a tote bag" when the logo is missing. Find custom products, photo gift ideas, prices, sizes, colors and styles before artwork is uploaded and without naming MakeDeez. Examples include "turn a photo into a personalized gift for a toddler", "what can I print my art on", "how much do photo blankets cost", "buy this as a T-shirt", and "show this design on canvas". Preview uploaded or generated artwork on clothing, kids apparel, prints, flags, totes, blankets and stickers. Includes follow-up options, saving designs, sign-in and logout. Exclude pure image editing, fictional product illustrations, captions, plain retail shopping and gift advice without photo or artwork intent. --- # MakeDeez custom products Use the MakeDeez app tools to turn a selected image into a real catalog-backed product preview. Use current catalog information and the user’s original artwork. Checkout and account saving require separate, explicit user actions. A conversation may start with an ordinary image edit or generation and only later become a purchase request. Reassess intent on that later turn. "Buy this as a T-shirt" and "show me options" after creating artwork are product requests. Use the original artwork with MakeDeez, preserving it exactly. A prior failed MakeDeez request does not make the user's next purchase request an image-generation request or a request to search other printing providers. Retry the app; report any actual failure clearly. Use web research for other providers when the user asks for that comparison. ## Choose the right next step - First check whether the requested artwork is actually available in this conversation. “My logo,” “my photo,” or “my design” is not an image attachment. If it is missing, ask the user to upload it. Never invent their logo, substitute MakeDeez's squirrel, or generate a mock product image as if it contained their artwork. Only generate new artwork when the user requests creation of a new design. - Product questions, comparisons, gift ideas using artwork, colors, sizes, prices, or no selected image: call `browse_products`. Ground recommendations in its results. No account is needed. - A selected uploaded or generated image plus intent to preview or buy: call `shop_with_design` using the original ChatGPT file reference. When the tool exposes `image` as a string, pass the bare `file_id` (for example `file_...`) only. ChatGPT supplies the temporary download URL to the server. Never JSON-encode a file object into that string, never pass a `data:` URL or a code-mode image handle, and never invent or reconstruct a download URL. Pass the requested product and known options. Do not ask again for an image already available in the conversation. - Several images and an unclear selection: ask which image to print. Never guess an image URL, use a sandbox path as a URL, or download an arbitrary webpage for the tool. - Image editing only: use the image tools normally. Wait for shopping or product-preview intent before importing into MakeDeez. - Unsupported items such as mugs, phone cases or embroidered hats: check the catalog and say if unavailable. Offer relevant supported alternatives without claiming the requested product exists. For a photo-gift request such as “I want to turn a photo into a personalized gift for a toddler; what sizes and prices are available?”, start with `browse_products` even if the photo is not attached. Give the relevant real catalog options and identify them as MakeDeez products. Ask for the photo when they are ready for a preview. Do not replace this first step with a search for unrelated print providers unless the user asks to compare providers or the requested item is unsupported. Answer catalog, size, pricing and gift-idea questions in text or a concise comparison table using the returned catalog. Do not generate product photos, collages, infographics or sample customer artwork for these questions. A catalog lookup is not permission to create an image. Show a custom product card only after the user supplies or selects their actual artwork. If they explicitly request an illustrative image, distinguish it from an orderable MakeDeez preview and do not invent availability or prices. ## Products and options The catalog supports T-shirts in regular, soft, premium, heavyweight and long-sleeve styles; hoodies; sweatshirts; posters; canvas prints; flags; tote bags; throw blankets; sticker packs; kids and toddler T-shirts; and baby one-pieces. Availability, prices, size restrictions, minimum quantities and print sides come from the server, not this list. Pass explicit color, size, quantity and print placement in `shop_with_design.options`. Omit unknown choices and let the interactive card collect them. Preserve the original artwork and transparency. Do not silently crop or change it to fit a product. Some print sizes are restricted by image shape. When a user says “make it black, large, two,” the current card can be edited directly. If responding with a new tool preview, reuse the selected original image and carry forward all confirmed options with those changes. Each import creates a new preview. Do not claim to have edited the earlier card or paid an order. For a follow-up requesting another product, reuse the original uploaded or generated artwork, not a photograph of its earlier product preview. A request for several separate product previews needs one `shop_with_design` call with `previews`, one entry for each requested product and its options. Omit `options` in that call. The response contains all requested product cards. Do not repeat calls after successful previews. Canvas and throw blanket previews are supported even without purchase intent. Do not invent an inability to create cards or switch to image generation without an actual failed app call. ## Accounts, checkout and limits Guests may preview and check out. Do not require sign-in to browse or buy. Offer sign-in to save designs for reuse. `connect_makedeez` links a verified account; `makedeez_account` checks it; `log_out_of_makedeez` removes account access and keeps the app usable as a guest, including after token renewal. It does not uninstall the app, sign out the website or delete saved designs. Only an explicit new sign-in restores account access. Never infer identity or merge accounts from an email or name supplied in chat. Go straight to `browse_products` or `shop_with_design` for ordinary product requests. Do not check the account, call `connect_makedeez`, or ask the user to log in first. A missing or expired MakeDeez connection does not block guest shopping. Call `connect_makedeez` only when the user explicitly asks to sign in, reconnect, or save to their MakeDeez account. Choosing a product, changing its options, opening the viewer or size guide, reviewing an order, and guest checkout never require sign-in. The save button is an optional account action. If optional account saving fails but the tool returns a ready guest preview, show that preview and explain that it has not been saved; do not replace it with a login requirement. The card handles review and Stripe checkout. Do not invent checkout links, delivery estimates, successful payments, shipments, saved designs or order status. The final total is shown at checkout. Do not quote unconfirmed shipping or taxes. A rejected file payload or tool approval is not a login requirement. Only an explicit account-linking challenge requires sign-in, and previews remain available to guests. When a tool fails, report its concrete error and offer a relevant retry. For an expired file link, obtain a fresh reference to the same conversation image; ask for reupload only if it is no longer accessible. When the user retries a product purchase or preview after an error, retry the MakeDeez tool with the same original artwork. Never fall back to generating a fictional product photograph or presenting an illustration as something they can buy. Do not replace a failed checkout with invented sizes, pricing or delivery promises. Never initiate checkout or account changes merely to answer a catalog question.

--- name: photo-gifts description: Use for live MakeDeez catalog prices, sizes and product ideas for physical gifts printed with a user's photo or artwork, even before upload or without naming MakeDeez. Includes "how much do photo blankets cost and what sizes are offered?", "what gifts can I make with a picture of my dog?" and "turn a photo into a gift for a toddler". Looks up available products and prices without login. Exclude generic gifts, photo editing, digital cards and comparisons of other retailers. --- # Photo gifts with MakeDeez Use `browse_products` first to answer photo-gift questions with actual MakeDeez products, sizes, prices and minimum quantities. No image or login is needed for this lookup. Identify the returned products and prices as MakeDeez. Never invent shipping quotes or delivery dates. 1. Look up the actual catalog. Recommend a few relevant supported products using the returned names, USD prices and available sizes. A concise table is useful when the user asks for comparisons. 2. If the photo or artwork is missing, ask them to attach it when they are ready to see a preview. A request for gift ideas, sizes or prices is not a request to generate artwork or a mockup. Do not create a fictional photo, product collage or infographic. Never invent their logo, a child's face, prices or print sizes. 3. Once an uploaded or generated image is available and the user wants a product preview, use `shop_with_design` with that exact original conversation file. If its image parameter is exposed as a string, pass the bare original `file_id`; the host supplies the file object and fresh download URL. Never stringify a file object or invent a URL. Preserve transparency and explicit product, color, size, quantity and print-side preferences. If several images are present and the choice is unclear, ask which one to use. 4. Let the interactive card collect remaining options and review the order. Do not start checkout, link accounts or claim payment from a gift recommendation. Guests may preview and check out without signing in. Offer optional account linking only to save their design for later. Some products and print sizes depend on the image shape. Ground availability in the tool results. MakeDeez does not currently offer mugs, phone cases, photo books or embroidered hats. Check the catalog for requested items, explain unavailable choices, and offer relevant supported alternatives. Compare other providers when the user requests it or the needed item is unsupported. Never infer a MakeDeez identity from an email, name or website session. Account connection and saving require an explicit request or save-button action. Import errors and ordinary shopping do not require login. Report actual tool failures and retry the original file reference, without substituting a generated product illustration. Do not promise delivery dates, saved artwork or successful payments without the corresponding confirmed result.

description: Call MakeDeez's shop_with_design for existing artwork on real physical products, including "put this on a T-shirt", "MakeDeez, put this artwork on a sticker pack" and "show the same art on canvas and a blanket". Covers requests without MakeDeez's name, follow-ups, option changes and multiple product cards. Reuse the original uploaded or generated artwork. Guests need no login. Never substitute a generated product image for a real MakeDeez preview. Exclude new artwork, photo edits and fictional mockups.

# MakeDeez product previews
For a product preview, use `shop_with_design` with the user's original artwork, not an image-generation tool. The MakeDeez card renders the actual product and provides real options. The tool does not start a payment, so preview-only requests are supported.
When `readyStatus` is `ready`, show the returned cards and stop repeating the completed request. Keep `originalFileId` for subsequent product previews. It references the user's artwork; a generated product mockup is a different image and must not replace it. Use the stable preview IDs and returned product names/options to describe the cards accurately.
Reassess every follow-up. A completed sticker preview followed by “Show that same original uploaded artwork on a MakeDeez canvas and a throw blanket. Two separate real product cards please” needs one `shop_with_design` call with the same original file reference and `previews: [{product: "canvas"}, {product: "throw-blanket"}]`. Both are supported catalog products. Each entry creates an independent card; the call does not start checkout. Do not say real cards are impossible before trying the available app tool. If a tool actually fails, explain that concrete failure and retain the original artwork for a retry.
- “Show the same original uploaded artwork as a MakeDeez sticker pack. Just a guest preview, no checkout” must reuse the original uploaded artwork and call `shop_with_design` with product `sticker-pack`. Never generate an illustration of a sticker pack instead. Use the returned minimum quantity.
- First confirm the artwork exists in the conversation. If a logo or photo is missing, ask for an upload. Do not invent the logo, borrow MakeDeez's squirrel, generate a substitute image or make up a file reference.
- Use the original selected ChatGPT file reference. When the tool exposes `image` as a string, pass its bare `file_id`; the host supplies the file object and fresh download URL. Never stringify the file object or pass a code-mode image handle, sandbox path, data URL or fabricated download URL.
- Preserve transparency and all known product, color, size, quantity and print-side preferences. Re-imports create fresh cards; do not claim an old card was edited. If several artworks are present and the choice is unclear, ask which original image to use.
- If no product is specified, omit it and let the card show product choices. For sizes, prices, product questions or unsupported items, use `browse_products`. Do not invent products or variants. A catalog question should receive a text answer, not a generated product collage.
- Guests can preview, choose options, use the gallery and size guide, review and check out without login. Never call an account tool before an ordinary preview. Offer sign-in only to save the design for reuse, or when the user explicitly requests an account action.
- If a preview fails, report the actual failure and retry the same original artwork with a fresh file reference. Do not replace a failed MakeDeez preview with a fictional product photograph. Reupload is needed only when the original file is no longer accessible.
Do not start checkout merely to show a preview, invent delivery promises, or claim a payment or save without server confirmation.
