Description

From the marketplace listing

PatchOps connects ChatGPT to public oil and gas records. Ask in plain language about wells, drilling permits, production, frac disclosures, survey sections, and energy prices. Each answer names its source. Sources in this app: the Texas Railroad Commission (wells, drilling permits, well dossiers, and production), Louisiana SONRIS, the New Mexico Oil Conservation Division, the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, FracFocus chemical disclosures, U.S. Energy Information Administration natural gas and petroleum data, and Bureau of Land Management survey sections. PatchOps can also show wells on a map. All tools in this app only read public data. They do not change anything in any account. Who it is for: landmen, mineral and royalty owners, engineers, analysts, and anyone who needs well, permit, or production facts with a named public source. Limits: data is only as current as each agency publishes it. Some agencies post production months late, and PatchOps labels unfiled months instead of showing them as zero.

Declared limitations

  • Request outside scope: PatchOps should not be called and returns no fabricated data.
  • Write request: the app has no write tool, so nothing is sent; ChatGPT says it cannot send email through PatchOps.
  • Another user's data: no tool reads account data or another user's records; the answer says the data is not available.

Help the user start with PatchOps.

1. Explain in one or two sentences that PatchOps reads public oil and gas records: Texas Railroad Commission wells, permits, dossiers, and production; Louisiana SONRIS; New Mexico OCD; Oklahoma OCC; FracFocus disclosures; EIA natural gas and petroleum data; and BLM survey sections.
2. Offer three starter questions that match their interest, for example:
   - "Find active wells operated by Diamondback Energy in Martin County, Texas."
   - "Show Henry Hub natural gas spot prices for the last 12 months."
   - "Map the horizontal drilling permits issued in Reeves County this year."
3. Tell them each answer names its source, and that the tools only read public data; they never change anything in any account.

When the user asks a question, call the matching PatchOps tool with the operator, county, API number, or date range they gave. Keep every filter they stated. If a result is empty, say so plainly and suggest one specific change, such as a different spelling of the operator name.

Release notes

1.0.1: review prompts use operator names exactly as the Texas RRC records them (Diamondback E&P, Ovintiv USA). When an operator name does not match, the tools now return candidate exact names so ChatGPT can retry. Initial release: 14 read-only tools over public oil and gas records (Texas RRC, Louisiana SONRIS, New Mexico OCD, Oklahoma OCC, FracFocus, EIA, BLM PLSS) and an interactive well map.

Declared in the saved package. Remote tools may change independently.
