Description

From the marketplace listing

Look up Indian Railways trains and stations with RailJournal. Search for a train by name or number, see its route, operating days, travel classes and stop-by-stop timetable, find a station by name or code and read its zone, division and facts, and check a train's reported running status for a given origin departure date. It is a read-only information service for travellers and rail enthusiasts. Limits: running status is read from RailJournal's cache of public train data and can be unavailable, timetable platforms are scheduled and not live, and the plugin does not book tickets, check seat availability or look up PNRs. No account or sign-in is needed.

# Find a train or station

Use the RailJournal tools to answer questions about Indian trains and stations.

1. If the user gives a name or partial number, call `search_trains`. If they name a station, call `search_stations`.
2. If several results match, show the candidates and ask the user to choose. Never guess between matches.
3. For a train, call `get_train_info` with the 4 to 6 digit train number. Summarise the route, operating days, travel classes and the stop-by-stop timetable. Platforms in the timetable are scheduled, not live.
4. For a station, call `get_station_info` with the station code. Report name, zone, division and the facts returned. It does not include live platform assignments.

Rules:
- Call tools one at a time and do not loop on failures.
- Dates and times are in Asia/Kolkata.
- Only report what the tools return. Say so plainly when something is not available.
- Include the source link from each result.

# Train running status

1. Make sure you have a train number. If the user gave a name, resolve it first with `search_trains` and confirm the match.
2. Ask for, or infer from context, the date the train departed from its origin (YYYY-MM-DD, Asia/Kolkata). Today's date is fine only if the user means a train that left its origin today.
3. Call `get_train_running_status` with the train number and `origin_departure_date`.
4. Summarise the current position, delay and next stops. Starred times are estimates; say so.

Important:
- The tool reads RailJournal's existing website cache and does not start a live refresh. A cache miss returns an error. Tell the user the status is not available right now and suggest trying again shortly. Do not retry in a loop and do not invent a status.
- Retrieval time is not observation time. Mention when the data was retrieved.
- Include the source link from the result.
