Description

From the marketplace listing

Tailor.ai finds clothes you can actually buy. Ask for what you're after, such as a white linen shirt under R600, an outfit for a summer wedding, or a warm coat for a week in London, and Tailor.ai searches the retailers' own online shops and shows the pieces as cards, with photos, prices and a link to the product page. Shops - South Africa: H&M, Cotton On, Zara and Mango, in rand - United States: Zara and Cotton On, in US dollars - United Kingdom: Zara and Cotton On, in pounds Women's, men's, kids' and baby clothes, plus shoes, bags and accessories. What you can ask for - Clothes by description, budget, store, colour, size or sale - A change to a piece you like: "same, but in navy" or "but cropped" - Look-alikes, cheaper alternatives, or the same look at another store - A complete outfit for an occasion or dress code, within a budget - A mix-and-match capsule wardrobe for a trip or a new season Every card has Tailor and Similar buttons, so you can change a piece or see more like it straight from the results. Tailor.ai needs no account or sign-in. It only reads its own index of public product listings: it can't buy anything, see your orders or sign in to a store. You buy on the retailer's site. Prices are in each shop's own currency and aren't converted, and stock and prices can change, so the retailer's page is always the final word.

description: Put together a complete outfit from Tailor's shops for an occasion, dress code, season or budget. Use when someone asks what to wear to something (a wedding, interview, date, party, holiday), wants a full look or several pieces that go together, or asks to be styled.

# Build an outfit with Tailor

A good outfit answer is a small set of pieces that clearly go together, fits the
occasion and the budget, and can be bought in the user's own country. Plan it like a
stylist, then use Tailor's tools to find each piece.

## 1. Get the brief

Work out these before searching. Infer what you can from the conversation and ask
only for what's missing, in one short question:

- **Country**: `za`, `us` or `gb`. Every search needs it, and prices are in that
  shop's currency.
- **Who it's for**: `department` is `women`, `men`, `kids` or `baby`.
- **Occasion and dress code**, plus season or weather if it matters.
- **Budget** for the whole outfit, if they have one.
- **What they already own** that the outfit should build around. Don't search for
  those pieces.

Size is optional. Use the `size` filter only when the user gives one, in the shop's
own size system.

## 2. Plan the pieces

List the garments before searching, usually 3 to 5: the main piece or pieces (dress,
or top and bottom, or suit), a layer if the weather needs one, shoes, and one
accessory or bag. Turn the dress code into concrete descriptions:

| Dress code | What it usually means |
| --- | --- |
| Black tie | Floor-length gown, or a dark suit or tuxedo with a white shirt |
| Cocktail / formal | Knee-to-midi dress or tailored jumpsuit; dark suit, tie optional |
| Smart casual | Tailored trousers or dark jeans, shirt or fine knit, blazer optional, loafers or clean leather sneakers |
| Business casual | Chinos or tailored trousers, shirt or blouse, knit or blazer |
| Daytime wedding guest | Light midi dress or linen suit; avoid white, and avoid all-black unless the user wants it |
| Beach / resort | Linen, cotton, sandals, swimwear and a cover-up |

Pick a palette before searching: one or two neutrals plus at most one accent colour.

## 3. Split the budget

Give each piece a share of the budget and pass it as `price_max` in that country's
currency. As a rough guide, the main piece takes 35 to 45%, shoes 20 to 25%, a layer
15 to 20% and the bag or accessory the rest. Keep the total within the budget.

## 4. Search one piece at a time

Call `search_products` once per garment, with `country`, `department` and the piece's
`price_max`. Write the query the way a product page would describe the garment, such as
"sage green satin slip midi dress" or "tan suede block-heel sandals", not "something
for a wedding". Add `colour_family` when the palette fixes a colour.

If a piece has no good match, rephrase the query or loosen one filter. If something
is close, try `tailor_product` on it ("same, but in navy", with `colour_family` for a
colour change) or `find_similar_products` with the same `product_type`.

## 5. Choose and present

Pick one item per piece so that colours, formality and fabrics work together. Prefer
the better fit over the cheapest option. Then call `show_products` once, with the
chosen `product_id`s in wearing order (main piece, layer, shoes, bag) and a `title`
such as "Your summer wedding look".

The cards already show photos, prices and links, so don't list the products again in
text. Add what cards can't show:

- why the pieces work together, in two or three sentences
- the total price, in the shop's currency
- one swap, if there's a good alternative (cheaper, bolder or warmer)

Then offer to change any piece. Remind the user that stock and prices can change, and
that they buy on the retailer's site.

description: Plan a small mix-and-match capsule wardrobe from Tailor's shops, for a trip, a new season, a new job or a wardrobe refresh. Use when someone asks what to pack, wants a set of pieces that all work together, or wants as many outfits as possible from a few items.
---

# Plan a capsule wardrobe with Tailor

A capsule is a few pieces in which nearly every top works with nearly every bottom.
The value of the answer is the combinations, so plan the set as a whole before
searching.

## 1. Get the brief

Infer what you can and ask only for what's missing, in one short question:

- **Country** (`za`, `us` or `gb`) and **department** (`women`, `men`, `kids`, `baby`)
- **What it's for**: trip length, destination and season, or the new job or season
- **Activities**: work, sightseeing, evenings out, beach, hiking
- **Budget** for everything they need to buy
- **What they already own** that should be part of the capsule. Count those pieces in
the plan, but don't search for them.

## 2. Plan the set

Start from this shape and adjust it to the brief:

| Slot | Count |
| --- | --- |
| Bottoms (trousers, jeans, skirts) | 2 |
| Tops (tees, shirts, knits) | 3 to 4 |
| Layer (cardigan, blazer, overshirt) | 1 |
| Outerwear, if the weather needs it | 1 |
| Shoes | 2 (one comfortable pair for the day, one smarter) |
| Optional: one dress or one evening piece | 1 |

Choose a palette of two neutrals and one accent colour, and keep every top compatible
with every bottom. For a trip, use fabrics that suit the climate and travel well.

## 3. Search slot by slot

Split the budget across the slots and pass each share as `price_max` in the country's
currency. Call `search_products` once per piece, with `country`, `department`, a
product-page description and `colour_family` for the palette colours. Pass `exclude_ids`
for items you've already picked, so that two tops in the same slot differ.

## 4. Present the capsule

Call `show_products` once with every chosen `product_id`, grouped by slot, with a
`title` such as "Your 5-day New York capsule". Don't re-list the products in text.
Then give:

- 4 to 6 named outfits from the set, each as a short line of piece names ("Day 1:
cream knit, dark jeans, white sneakers")
- how many outfits the set makes in total
- the total price in the shop's currency, and which owned pieces it builds on

Offer to swap any piece, to stretch or cut the budget, or to add one piece that
unlocks more outfits.

name: find-a-cheaper-version
description: Find a cheaper or alternative version of one specific piece of clothing with Tailor, when the user already has the item in mind, either one Tailor showed or one they saw elsewhere, and asks for a dupe, a cheaper option, alternatives or the same look at another store. Not for ordinary searches with a budget, such as "a coat under £150"; those are plain searches.
---

# Find a cheaper version with Tailor

The goal is a piece that looks like the one the user wants, for less. Be honest that
these are look-alikes, not the same product.

## 1. Pin down the original

- **A product Tailor already showed**: use its `product_id`, `price` and
  `product_type`.
- **Something from elsewhere** (described, linked or in a photo): describe it the way
a product page would, with colour, cut, fabric, pattern, length and details, and
note its price if the user knows it. Work from what the user tells you: Tailor only
searches its own index, so don't look the item up on the web or open other sites.

Also confirm the user's **country** (`za`, `us` or `gb`) and **department**. Ask what
"cheaper" means if it's unclear; by default, aim for well under the original price.

## 2. Search

- **For a Tailor product**: call `find_similar_products` with its `product_id`,
`price_max` below its price, and the same `product_type`. Without `product_type`,
look-alikes can include other kinds of item. To look at one other retailer, add
`store_code`. To see only discounted items, add `on_sale: true`.
- **For something from elsewhere**: call `search_products` with the description,
`country`, `department` and `price_max`. If one result is close, run
`find_similar_products` on it, with the same `product_type`, to find more like it.
- **For the same item in another colour**: use `tailor_product` with the change as the
  desired result and `colour_family` set.

Pass `exclude_ids` for products already shown, to get fresh results.

## 3. Present

Each search, similar or tailor call already shows its results as cards. If one call
found the options, those cards are the answer: don't show them again with
`show_products`. If the options came from several calls, call `show_products` once
with the best 3 to 6, closest look first, and a `title` such as "Cheaper takes on
the camel coat". Either way, don't re-list the products in text. Add:

- for each option worth mentioning, how close it is and what's different (fabric,
  length, details)
- how much it saves against the original, in the same currency

Prices are in each shop's own currency and aren't converted, so only compare prices
within one country.
