Description

From the marketplace listing

Ziva is a nutrition tracker you use by talking to ChatGPT. Tell ChatGPT what you ate — "two scrambled eggs, a slice of sourdough with butter, and a flat white" — and Ziva breaks the meal into its foods, matches each one to the USDA FoodData Central database, picks a sensible portion, and logs calories, protein, fat, carbs, and 50+ nutrients in total. What you can do: - Log meals from a plain-language description, including home-cooked dishes and restaurant items. Foods without a USDA match can be logged with estimated or menu-provided macros. - Review and correct what you ate: see all meals for a day or date range, edit a logged meal, or delete one. - Search your meal history ("what did I have for lunch last Tuesday?", "find my post-workout meals"). - Save favorite meals and recipes, then log them again in one step. - See nutrition insights: daily, weekly, and monthly macro totals and averages, so you can spot trends against your goals. In ChatGPT, logged meals, daily summaries, and insights show up as interactive cards and charts. Everything you log also appears on your Ziva dashboard at ziva.fit, where you can set macro targets and pin the nutrients you care about. Ziva records what you eat and reports nutrition totals. It doesn't give medical or dietary advice and isn't meant for managing a medical condition. Sign in with your Ziva account when you connect.

Competitor profile

From the developer’s listing and package; capabilities are not independently tested. Package observed Nov 2, 2026.

Declared capabilities

  • Log meals from plain-language descriptions
  • Match foods to USDA FoodData Central
  • Track calories, macros, and 50+ nutrients

Declared limitations

  • Medical dosing advice is out of scope. Ziva records food and reports nutrition totals; it should decline to recommend medication doses, suggest the user ask their clinician, and at most offer the meal's carbohydrate total.
  • Another person's data is not accessible. Ziva only reads meals logged by the signed-in account, so it should explain that it can't show someone else's meals.
  • Ordering food is not supported. Ziva has no ordering or payment tools, so it should say it can't place orders and offer to log the meal after the user eats it.

name: log-meals
description: Log what the user ate to Ziva with accurate USDA matches and portions. Use when the user describes a meal, snack, or drink to record, asks to log a saved meal or recipe, or wants to correct a meal that is already logged.
---

Log food with the Ziva tools so the totals the user sees are trustworthy.

For each food item in a new meal:

1. Search with `search_usda_foods` using standard food labeling terms and no quantities. For "2 cups rice", search "rice".
2. If the results look irrelevant, simplify the query and search again. For "grilled chicken thigh", try "chicken thigh".
3. If there is still no relevant USDA match, use quick entry (`type="quick"`) with estimated macros. Quick entry is a fallback for foods with no USDA match, or for custom foods with known macros such as homemade sauces or restaurant items with published nutrition.
4. For matched items, choose the portion closest to what the user described.
5. Before calling `log_meal`, check that portion × quantity gives reasonable calories. A single item over 800 calories, or a snack over 1,200, usually means the wrong portion was chosen.
6. Call `log_meal` once with all of the verified items.

To log a saved meal or recipe, call `get_saved_item` first to get the full ingredient list. Then log each ingredient as returned: USDA ingredients with their `fdcId`, `portionId`, and `quantity`, and quick ingredients with their macros.

To change a logged meal, call `log_meal` with every item in the meal, not only the changed ones, because an update replaces the full item list.

Ziva records food and reports nutrition totals. Don't give medical advice or medication doses; if the user asks for that, suggest they ask their clinician.
