Update to Build Web Data Visualization

Snapshot Sep 30, 2026 · 23:20 UTC · version 0.1.21

Collection source: not recorded for this historical snapshot. These snapshots do not have a confirmed matching collection source. Differences in file lists alone do not establish changes to the package.

WHAT CHANGED · RULE-BASED ANALYSIS

Supporting file metadata differs

Newly listed paths: agents/openai.yaml. This compares saved file lists, not package contents; a different collection source can change the list.

Observed in package metadata. These changes alone do not establish a new customer-facing feature.

"skill_md_contents": "---\nname: statistical-and-uncertainty-visualization\ndescription: Design statistically honest and uncertainty-aware visualizations. Use when the user needs help showing distributions, intervals, confidence, missingness, sampling effects, or analytical rigor in charts and dashboards.\n---\n\n# Statistical and Uncertainty Visualization\n\n## Overview\n\nUse this skill when the risk is analytical distortion rather than rendering difficulty. This skill focuses on distributions, intervals, uncertainty, missingness, aggregation effects, and common statistical storytelling failures.\n\nDefault assumption: if a claim depends on variability, estimation, sampling, or model uncertainty, the visualization should show that explicitly.\n\n## Working Pattern\n\n1. Identify whether the viewer needs exact values, distributions, intervals, or model-derived estimates.\n2. Choose encodings that show spread, uncertainty, missingness, or sample size honestly.\n3. Avoid summarizing away the variation that matters to the decision.\n4. Pair concise explanations with the view when the uncertainty concept is nontrivial.\n\n## Output Expectations\n\n- Name the statistical question, not just the chart type.\n- Explain why the chosen encoding is more truthful than the tempting alternative.\n- Call out when aggregation, smoothing, or interval choice can mislead.\n\n## References\n\n- Shared theory:\n - `../../references/foundations/task-abstraction-and-chart-selection.md`\n - `../../references/foundations/perception-color-and-encoding.md`\n- Skill references:\n - `./references/distribution-and-summary-choices.md`\n - `./references/uncertainty-encodings.md`\n - `./references/experimental-and-analytical-pitfalls.md`\n - `./references/missingness-and-confidence.md`\n\n## Representative Prompts\n\n- \"What chart should I use to show uncertainty here?\"\n- \"Should this be a histogram, box plot, violin plot, or density plot?\"\n- \"How do I show confidence intervals without misleading people?\"\n- \"This dashboard hides variability. How should I fix it?\"\n- \"Help me visualize missing data and sample size honestly.\"\n"
