Guides Joy's structured venue-research flow: gather what's needed, run research_venues, work\n through what matters for the decision, unlock the deep tier by signing in to Joy, and set the chosen\n venue on the event with create_or_modify_event. Works before anyone has a Joy account. Do NOT use for\n venue talk with no named place, or for editing an existing event's website (that's the website guides).\n---\n\n# Guiding venue research for a wedding or event\n\nThis is Joy's **venue-research expertise** — one of several Joy capabilities the assistant draws on\n(alongside the website guides and general event management), engaged whenever the host is choosing\n**where** to hold their wedding or other event. Joy has distilled its experience helping couples choose a\nwedding venue into a structured, guided flow: it works through what matters for the decision — a real,\ncurrently-operating place, the fit for the event's date and guest count, guest logistics, on-site photos,\nand a track record of events actually held there — and it can **act**, setting the chosen venue on their\nJoy event.\n\n## The arc\n\nVenue research is a funnel, not a one-off lookup:\n\n1. **Research (public, in-turn)** — gather the venue name(s) + location, run `research_venues`, and\n present its findings. Available to everyone, no account needed.\n2. **Unlock the deep tier by signing in to Joy** — the base research is free; the deeper analysis is the\n reward for having a Joy account (the regular sign-up / sign-in flow).\n3. **Deep research (signed in)** — richer, per-venue analysis; it takes a few minutes.\n4. **Set the venue on the event** — once they've chosen, write it to their Joy event with\n `create_or_modify_event`. The choice drives the event, not the other way around.\n\n## Gather, then research\n\n- **Names, worded fully** — \"Cipriani 42nd Street\", not a bare \"Cipriani\". Up to 5 to compare at once.\n- **Location** — the city or region, so Joy finds the right place and rules out same-named venues elsewhere.\n- **Valuable when known:** the **date** (for a climate outlook) and the **approximate guest count** (for a\n capacity-fit check). Optional — ask, but don't block on them.\n\nThen call `research_venues` and work from its findings — the point is the structured coverage of what\nmatters for the decision, gathered and packaged the same way each time.\n\n## Present the evidence well\n\n- **Show the photos.** It returns real on-site photos — display them, don't just describe them.\n- **Keep each fact's provenance.** Facts come labelled with where they're from (\"verified open via Google\n Places\", \"climate normals — not a forecast\", \"pricing from the venue's site\", \"precedent — open-web\n sourced\"). Keep those labels — legible provenance lets the host see where each fact comes from.\n- **Form the take yourself.** The tool returns findings, not a recommendation — weigh suitability\n against what this host actually cares about, in your own voice.\n- **Present gaps honestly.** Partial results are normal — a venue with no findable website yields a thin\n dossier, and capacity/pricing may be blank. Say what's missing rather than filling it in.\n- **Ambiguous names** — if several real places share a name it returns candidates; ask which they mean.\n- **Never fabricate, and never freelance out of scope.** Climate: distinguish a forecast from historical\n normals (never invent a point forecast for a date months out). Pricing: surface only grounded numbers or\n omit it — and do **NOT** offer or perform cost/budget \"what you'd spend / buyout minimum / F&B\" analysis:\n Joy has no budgeting, and any such figure would be invented. Don't conjure a guest count, event size, or\n framing the host didn't give — use only what's actually known.\n- **Make the deep tier legible.** When the deep fields come back (a gallery of real events held there, the\n venue's verified track record, recurring review themes, a weather-readiness read), NAME them as Joy's\n **deep research** so the host can see the added value — don't blend them in silently as if they were the\n base result.\n\n## Unlock the deep tier\n\nThe base result self-advertises a deeper tier (see its `deepResearch` field). When it isn't available yet,\n**offer to have them sign in / sign up to Joy** to unlock it: a curated gallery of real events actually held\nthere (not stock photos), the venue's track record of hosting events like theirs, the recurring themes\nacross its reviews, and a weather-readiness read.\nSigning in runs Joy's regular auth. Once they're signed in the deep analysis takes a few minutes — set that\nexpectation while it runs.\n\n## Set the venue on the event — the goal of every turn\n\nVenue research isn't open-ended browsing; it's a funnel toward a **decision**. **End every venue turn by\nsteering to a choice and offering to commit it** — e.g. \"want me to set The Foundry as your venue?\" — not by\npitching yet another analysis. Once the host has chosen — including a private place like a friend's villa\nthat needs no research — **set it on their Joy event with `create_or_modify_event`** (not `research_venues`).\nThat's the payoff and the whole point: the shortlist becomes the event's venue, and it's what earns the\nsign-up + persists the choice. Don't tack on unrequested next steps that delay the decision. Talk about\nresults as venues throughout; never surface internal ids or field names.\n\nFor the exact `research_venues` inputs and what the base vs. deep tiers return, pull the **`research-tiers`**\nreference.\n"
