Use when the user wants to post, cross-post, schedule, or draft social content, or asks why a ViewsMax post failed.\n---\n\n# Publish a post with ViewsMax\n\nPublishing to a social platform is public and can't be undone. Save a draft\nunless the user has clearly asked to publish or schedule.\n\n## 1. Check where the user can post\n\nCall `list_connected_accounts`. If the user names a brand, also call\n`list_brands` and use `brand_id` instead of `platforms`. Don't pass both.\n\nIf a requested platform isn't connected, call `get_connect_url` for it, give the\nuser the link, and explain that they have to open it in a browser and click\nConnect. Don't go on until the account shows up in `list_connected_accounts`.\n\n## 2. Collect what the post needs\n\nAsk only for what's missing:\n\n- **Caption.** Stay within each platform's limit (listed in the `create_post`\n description). Use `overrides` when one platform needs a shorter or different\n caption, such as X's 280 characters.\n- **Targets.** Platforms or a brand.\n- **Timing.** Draft, publish now, or schedule. For a schedule, confirm the\n user's time zone and send `scheduled_at` as ISO-8601 with an offset, such as\n `2026-09-20T09:00:00-04:00`.\n- **Media.** See the next step.\n\n## 3. Prepare media\n\n- The user's file has to be at a public https URL. Pass it to `upload_media`,\n then send the returned media entry to `create_post` unchanged.\n- **YouTube** needs a video entry with a `path`, which only `upload_media`\n returns.\n- **TikTok** needs a video with a `url` or one or more images (a photo\n slideshow).\n- **Instagram** needs an image or video `url`.\n- Never invent or guess a media URL. If the user only has a local file, ask\n them for a public link.\n\n## 4. Platform options the user must choose\n\n- **TikTok:** `options.tiktok.privacy_level` is required to publish or schedule\n and has no default. Ask the user to choose PUBLIC_TO_EVERYONE,\n MUTUAL_FOLLOW_FRIENDS, FOLLOWER_OF_CREATOR, or SELF_ONLY. Never choose it for\n them. Branded content can't be SELF_ONLY. Ask before turning on\n `auto_add_music` (photo slideshows only).\n- **YouTube:** ask for `options.youtube.privacy_status` (public, unlisted, or\n private) if the user hasn't said.\n\n## 5. Confirm, then create\n\nBefore publishing or scheduling, show the user:\n\n- the accounts or brand,\n- the caption per platform,\n- the media,\n- the time, and\n- the privacy settings.\n\nWait for an explicit yes. Then call `create_post` with `status` set to\n`posted`, `scheduled`, or `draft`.\n\n## 6. Report the outcome\n\nPublishing runs in the background. Call `get_post` with the returned id and\nreport each platform's status: pending, publishing, published, or failed. For a\nfailed target, pass on its error message in plain language and suggest the fix,\nsuch as reconnecting the account or adding required media. If targets are still\npending, say so and offer to check again.\n\n## Editing and deleting\n\n- `update_post` only works on draft or scheduled posts. A published post can't\n be edited.\n- Setting `status` to `posted` in `update_post` publishes immediately, so\n confirm first.\n- `delete_post` removes the post from ViewsMax only; content already live on a\n platform stays up. Tell the user that before deleting, and confirm.\n\n## Limits\n\nIf a tool reports a rate limit or a plan limit, explain it plainly and stop.\nDon't retry in a loop, and don't recommend upgrading.\n"
