# Parisian Love (Google · 2010)

## Insight
Google Search is used in the most intimate and consequential moments of human life — but no one had ever made that visible. The product has no interface beyond a search box, yet through that box, entire lives unfold. A love story told entirely through search queries would be both the most honest demonstration of the product and the most emotionally resonant possible ad.

## Mechanic
A 52-second film shown at the Super Bowl consisting only of a series of Google searches — "study abroad paris france," "cafes near the louvre," "how to impress a french girl," eventually to "how to assemble a crib" — accompanied by a simple piano score. No actors. No voiceover. The search box is the screen; the queries are the narrative. The product demonstration (P14) is the story (P16): inseparable.

## Why it worked
The Google search interface is the one user interface in the world that everyone recognizes. By making the search box the stage, Google turned its most familiar product moment into a cinematic grammar. The story (American falls in love in Paris, marries, has a child) was universally legible. The film required zero explanation — and ran at Super Bowl, the highest-cost media slot, with the lowest-cost execution imaginable. Cannes Grand Prix recognized it as a genuinely new form of brand communication.

## Steal
Ask: does your product have an interface or moment that is universally recognized? If so, that interface can become the camera, the stage, and the character — you don't need actors, locations, or production budget.
