# HomePod: Welcome Home (Apple · 2018)

## Insight

After a draining day in the world, home should transform into a space that belongs entirely to you — not just a place you return to, but one that expands with your emotional state.

## Mechanic

Spike Jonze-directed five-minute film: a woman comes home exhausted, plays music on HomePod, and the apartment transforms into a vast surrealist landscape that mirrors her emotional journey from fatigue to release. Craft-first storytelling where the visual world is the product demo.

## Why it worked

Craft as message: the extraordinary visual effects (practical sets extending CGI) demonstrated what music through HomePod feels like — not what it sounds like. The film was shared as entertainment, not advertising. Spike Jonze's authorship gave it cultural permission to exist at feature-film quality.

## Steal

When you cannot demo a sensory experience (sound, smell, touch) through traditional advertising, use visual metaphor at cinematic quality. The visual must match the ambition of the claim.
