Cinema, as a shared collective experience, is one of the few places where strangers still sit together in the dark and feel the same thing at the same time. ## Mechanic A long-form film using cinema as a metaphor for human connection — the shared emotional experience of a film in a theatre as a demonstration of what genuine connection feels like. High production, cinematic quality that was designed to be shown in the cinema context it depicted. ## Why it worked Long-form drama (P16) allowed AT&T to move away from telecom category communication (speed, coverage, price) and occupy a cultural space around connection as an emotional rather than a technical concept. The format matched the subject — a cinema ad about cinema. ## Steal When a brand's core concept (connection, communication, movement) can be demonstrated through a cultural form rather than a product demonstration, use the cultural form. The medium proves the message without saying it. ## Related - Pattern: [[../MOC-pattern.md#p16]] - Sibling: [[apple-1984-1984.md|1984]] - Sibling: [[apple-think-different-1997.md|Think Different]] - Emotion match: [[metro-trains-dumb-ways-to-die-2012.md|Dumb Ways to Die]] --- *Author: Serge Shima ([t.me/aimastersme](https://t.me/aimastersme) · [sergeshima.com](https://sergeshima.com) · [aimasters.me](https://aimasters.me)) · License: CC BY 4.0 — attribution required · Source: [smixs/creative-director-skill](https://github.com/smixs/creative-director-skill)*
