# Lights Out (Coors Light · 2024)

## Insight
The Coors Light "train mountains turn blue when cold" mechanic had become one of the most recognizable temperature indicators in the category — when a live power outage darkened an arena, the brand had a uniquely relevant cultural moment to hijack.

## Mechanic
When power went out at a major live sporting event, Coors Light activated immediately with creative referencing "Lights Out" — their own visual identity — turning an unplanned blackout into brand content with uncanny timing.

## Why it worked
The brand had built enough visual equity around the "lights/cold" mechanic that a literal lights-out moment felt like it belonged to them. The speed of response and the pre-existing brand language made it feel predestined rather than opportunistic.

## Steal
Build visual assets and pre-approved reactive concepts around predictable cultural failure modes (power outages, weather events, delays) before they occur. When they do, speed of activation plus brand fit creates the illusion of destiny.
