# Parallels (Jim Beam · 2011)

## Insight
Bourbon is not just a drink — it's a generational inheritance. The rituals men repeat with whiskey are often unconsciously identical to those of their fathers and grandfathers: the pour, the glass, the company. That inheritance is worth making visible.

## Mechanic
Long-form film interweaving parallel moments across generations — fathers and sons sharing rituals of work, craft, and drink — demonstrating continuity without sentimentality. The craft of the filmmaking itself mirrors the craftsmanship story.

## Why it worked
The parallel editing structure was the idea, not just the execution. By literally showing the same moment across different decades, the film made the abstract (generational connection) physically visible without stating it.

## Steal
When your brand story is about continuity over time, parallel editing is not a stylistic choice — it's an argument. Structure mirrors content.
