She attempts to communicate; eventually sends him a wrapped gift that reaches him on Christmas Day. Partnership with Age UK activating around elderly loneliness. ## Why it worked John Lewis addressed the social taboo of Christmas loneliness from within Christmas advertising — the category that most avoids it. The imaginative framing (moon, telescope, gift-by-balloon) made the sadness bearable rather than crushing, while the Age UK partnership gave the audience a real action to take. ## Steal Social cause + imaginative framing + real partner activation = the full loop: emotion → awareness → action. Any one element alone is weaker. Together they make the brand a participant in the problem, not just its describer. ## Related - Pattern: [[../MOC-pattern.md#p10]] - Sibling: [[metro-trains-dumb-ways-to-die-2012.md|Dumb Ways to Die]] - Sibling: [[american-express-small-business-saturday-2010.md|Small Business Saturday]] - Emotion match: [[calm-the-last-photo-2022.md|The Last Photo]] --- *Author: Serge Shima ([t.me/aimastersme](https://t.me/aimastersme) · [sergeshima.com](https://sergeshima.com) · [aimasters.me](https://aimasters.me)) · License: CC BY 4.0 — attribution required · Source: [smixs/creative-director-skill](https://github.com/smixs/creative-director-skill)*
