# Unexpected Encounters (Lacoste · 2023)

## Insight
The most memorable human connections are the ones we don't plan — brief meetings that leave a permanent emotional trace, impossible to explain but impossible to forget.

## Mechanic
A cinematic film following two strangers through an extended, unplanned encounter — structured around craft of performance and cinematography rather than product logic. Extended format, minimal Lacoste branding, maximum emotional investment in the narrative.

## Why it worked
Craft as message (P08): Lacoste consistently invests in film craft as a signal of brand quality without making product-centric claims. The long-form structure (P16) earns emotional complexity unavailable in shorter formats. The brand's "croc" is present as a quiet signature rather than a shouted logo.

## Steal
When a brand's equity is built on style and elegance, the ad itself must demonstrate those qualities through production choices — director, soundtrack, pace, colour grading — not through assertions in a voiceover.
