Climate change makes extreme weather more frequent and severe. Politicians who deny climate change while receiving fossil fuel money are making those storms worse — so they should bear the names. ## Mechanic A petition campaign to the World Meteorological Organization to name extreme weather events after climate-denying politicians. For every storm, a politician's name was assigned based on their denial record and industry funding. Supporters shared "storm warnings" on social media. ## Why it worked The mechanic literalized the consequence in an unmistakable and shareable way. Naming a hurricane after a senator made the abstraction of climate policy into a visceral, personal statement. The petition format gave people a low-friction action with high symbolic payoff. ## Steal When a complex policy issue needs a human face, find the mechanism that links action to consequence directly. The more literal the link, the more memorable the statement. Attribution as activism. ## Related - Pattern: [[../MOC-pattern.md#p09]] - Sibling: [[red-bull-stratos-2012.md|Stratos]] - Sibling: [[snickers-hungerithm-2016.md|Hungerithm]] --- *Author: Serge Shima ([t.me/aimastersme](https://t.me/aimastersme) · [sergeshima.com](https://sergeshima.com) · [aimasters.me](https://aimasters.me)) · License: CC BY 4.0 — attribution required · Source: [smixs/creative-director-skill](https://github.com/smixs/creative-director-skill)*
