These unremarkable achievements are celebrated among their communities with genuine pride, even as they are objectively absurd. Budweiser exists in those same communities. ## Mechanic A long-running radio (then TV) campaign: a narrator solemnly introduces "today's real man of genius," celebrating a fictional man for an absurdly specific, mundane, or ridiculous contribution — "Mr. Drive-Through Window Orderer." A reverential male singer punctuates each tribute with operatic affirmation. Hundreds of executions ran over more than a decade. ## Why it worked P11 absurdism: the mock-heroic format applies the production values of genuine tribute (solemn narration, operatic musical affirmation) to deliberately unworthy subjects. The absurdism celebrates male culture's tendency to take its own minor achievements seriously — which is self-aware enough to be funny but affectionate enough not to feel condescending. P10 serialization: with hundreds of executions, the campaign built a loyal radio audience who listened specifically for the new "Man of Genius" installment. Budweiser occupied a weekly appointment with its audience. ## Steal Build a format so elastic it can run forever. Hundreds of executions are possible when the format is fixed (solemn tribute to mundane man) and the variable is infinite (any specific ridiculous human behavior). Serial campaigns compound: each new execution builds on the brand equity of all previous ones. ## Related - Pattern: [[../MOC-pattern.md#p11]] - Sibling: [[metro-trains-dumb-ways-to-die-2012.md|Dumb Ways to Die]] - Sibling: [[old-spice-man-your-man-could-smell-like-2010.md|The Man Your Man Could Smell Like]] - Emotion match: [[absolut-absolut-campaign-1981.md|Absolut _____]] --- *Author: Serge Shima ([t.me/aimastersme](https://t.me/aimastersme) · [sergeshima.com](https://sergeshima.com) · [aimasters.me](https://aimasters.me)) · License: CC BY 4.0 — attribution required · Source: [smixs/creative-director-skill](https://github.com/smixs/creative-director-skill)*
