# Meet the Superhumans (Channel 4 · 2012)

## Insight
The Paralympic Games were seen as the lesser, inspirational sibling of the Olympics — a charity-toned event for people who admire disabled athletes from a comfortable distance of pity.

## Mechanic
A film using the visual and sonic codes of high-intensity sports advertising — aggressive editing, Public Enemy soundtrack, close-up action footage — applied entirely to Paralympic athletes. No soft tones, no inspiration porn, no charity framing.

## Why it worked
The borrowed codes of a higher-status category (mainstream sports advertising) instantly reframed the Paralympic athlete from object of sympathy to subject of power. Category hijack via visual language.

## Steal
Apply the code of a higher-status adjacent category to an undervalued subject. The audience reads the visual language first and the subject second — by the time they process who they're watching, the respect is already installed.
