# Find Your Greatness — London (Nike · 2012)

## Insight
During the London 2012 Olympics, Nike was not an official sponsor. Adidas was. Nike could not use Olympic imagery. But Nike recognized that greatness is not a property of the Olympics — it belongs to every person who pushes beyond their limit, anywhere.

## Mechanic
A campaign running during the London Olympics showing ordinary athletes — not Olympians — in places named "London" around the world. "London, Jamaica. London, Ohio. London, Nigeria." Each person performing a modest athletic feat with full personal commitment. The tagline: "Greatness is not some rare DNA strand. It's not a precious thing."

## Why it worked
Nike neutralized an Olympic exclusion by making it philosophically irrelevant. If greatness belongs to everyone, the Olympics is just one expression of it — not the definition. The campaign actually derived more cultural power from not being official: it argued for democratic greatness against elite spectacle.

## Steal
When you cannot compete at the expected level (budget, official status, market position), redefine the level. Shift the definition of the contest so that the expected level stops mattering. Limitation as philosophical reframe, not concession.
