Over time, efficiency became the only value. The story of industrial food is a story of mission drift. The insight: going "back to the start" is not nostalgia; it is ethics. ## Mechanic A two-minute stop-motion animated film showing a farmer who builds a thriving traditional farm, then industrializes it — chickens become cogs, pigs become assembly-line units — until the factory is producing food he no longer recognizes. He tears it down and starts over, "back to the start." Scored with Willie Nelson's cover of "The Scientist" by Coldplay. First broadcast at the Grammy Awards, then released online where it accumulated tens of millions of views. ## Why it worked P16 (long-form drama): the farmer's arc — aspiration, corruption, redemption — follows a complete narrative structure. P13 (truth telling): unlike most QSR advertising, this film tells a story about where food comes from and why it matters. Chipotle's supply chain makes this authentic rather than opportunistic. The Willie Nelson song anchors the film emotionally in American agrarian nostalgia without being sentimental. ## Steal The redemption arc is the most powerful narrative structure in advertising because it requires the audience to believe that the protagonist recognizes their error. The farmer tearing down the factory farm is the most credible moment in the film — because the decision costs him something. ## Related - Pattern: [[../MOC-pattern.md#p16]] - Sibling: [[apple-1984-1984.md|1984]] - Sibling: [[apple-think-different-1997.md|Think Different]] - Emotion match: [[always-like-a-girl-2014.md|Like a Girl]] --- *Author: Serge Shima ([t.me/aimastersme](https://t.me/aimastersme) · [sergeshima.com](https://sergeshima.com) · [aimasters.me](https://aimasters.me)) · License: CC BY 4.0 — attribution required · Source: [smixs/creative-director-skill](https://github.com/smixs/creative-director-skill)*
