The insight: a father documents his daughter's entire childhood through Gmail drafts, photos, YouTube videos, and Google searches — and never once does Google feel like the subject. ## Mechanic A two-minute film shows a father creating a Gmail account for his newborn daughter "Sophie" and populating it with milestones: first words, first steps, first day of school — each documented using different Google products. The campaign's P14 mechanic is the Google suite itself: every product shown is used as it actually exists, demonstrating utility through genuine emotional purpose. P16's long-form format allows the emotional accumulation to build across a childhood compressed into two minutes. ## Why it worked Product demonstration (P14) achieved at human scale: instead of features, you see use cases that matter. The film is not about Google — it's about a father's love expressed through Google. The emotional truth carries the brand, not the other way around. "Dear Sophie" became one of the most-cited examples of product demonstration done through storytelling rather than specification. ## Steal Show your product being used in the moments that matter most to people's lives. The product becomes the medium for human connection — and the brand inherits the emotional weight of that connection. ## Related - Pattern: [[../MOC-pattern.md#p14]] - Sibling: [[db-export-brewtroleum-2015.md|Brewtroleum]] - Sibling: [[google-parisian-love-2010.md|Parisian Love]] - Emotion match: [[always-like-a-girl-2014.md|Like a Girl]] --- *Author: Serge Shima ([t.me/aimastersme](https://t.me/aimastersme) · [sergeshima.com](https://sergeshima.com) · [aimasters.me](https://aimasters.me)) · License: CC BY 4.0 — attribution required · Source: [smixs/creative-director-skill](https://github.com/smixs/creative-director-skill)*
