The audience does not want to be told Honda builds reliable cars; they want to feel the obsessive care that goes into every component. The Rube Goldberg machine does not describe the Accord; it embodies the logic of a car where everything works in relation to everything else. ## Mechanic A two-minute film showing a chain-reaction machine built entirely from Accord components — windshield wipers, exhaust pipes, tyres, seats — triggering each other in sequence across a clean white space. 606 takes over four months to achieve a single working sequence. No CGI. No editing tricks. The final product: a car rolling off an incline as the tagline appears: "Isn't it nice when things just work?" ## Why it worked P14 (product as proof): every component working in the film is a Honda component, so the demonstration is literally about Honda quality. P08 (craft as message): 606 attempts over four months transfers the obsessive precision of that process to the brand's engineering culture. The 30-second cut for TV could not contain it — audiences sought out the two-minute version online in 2003, years before YouTube. It won the Grand Prix at Cannes and spawned an industry conversation about whether the chain reaction was faked (it was not). ## Steal Choose a demonstration format where the effort of production is inseparable from the product claim. If the making of the ad requires the same precision as the making of the product, the ad is self-evidencing. The behind-the-scenes story becomes as valuable as the film itself. ## Related - Pattern: [[../MOC-pattern.md#p14]] - Sibling: [[db-export-brewtroleum-2015.md|Brewtroleum]] - Sibling: [[google-parisian-love-2010.md|Parisian Love]] - Emotion match: [[guinness-surfer-1999.md|Surfer]] --- *Author: Serge Shima ([t.me/aimastersme](https://t.me/aimastersme) · [sergeshima.com](https://sergeshima.com) · [aimasters.me](https://aimasters.me)) · License: CC BY 4.0 — attribution required · Source: [smixs/creative-director-skill](https://github.com/smixs/creative-director-skill)*
