# Neglect (Marmite · 2013)

## Insight
Jars of Marmite gather dust in the back of kitchen cupboards because the people who buy it (out of love) forget it exists and the people who hate it won't touch it — this neglect is an actual consumer behaviour.

## Mechanic
A film shot in the style of an animal rescue documentary — investigators entering a home to rescue "neglected" jars of Marmite from the back of kitchen cupboards. Played completely straight, with emotional swells and rescue workers treating jars with urgency.

## Why it worked
The parody of charity rescue format is total — no winking at the camera. Absolute commitment to the absurd premise creates the comedy. The insight (people genuinely do neglect their Marmite) is real, making the joke feel true even as the format is ridiculous.

## Steal
Commit fully to the most ridiculous premise your insight supports. Half-committed absurdism reads as confused; total commitment to the absurd logic is the only version that works.
