# Provider Intent Map

Use this map to turn natural user needs into the canonical query sent to `search_activity_providers`. Pass the location separately. Prefer one focused query, then try one adjacent provider family only when the first query returns no reliable result.

## Surf Shops And Equipment

Canonical query: `surf shop`

Trigger for surfboard ding, crack, rail, nose or tail repair; resin or fiberglass advice; fin box, fin, leash, traction pad or wax replacement; board inspection; used or new surfboard purchase; wetsuit, boot, glove or hood purchase; surf hardware; board bag; travel repair kit; SUP board repair; where to repair or buy surf equipment.

Give concise practical guidance first for how-to questions. Recommend a shop when inspection, specialist tools, resin compatibility, structural damage, waterproofing, or local stock matters. Say the exact repair service must be confirmed unless BeachFinder explicitly documents it.

## Surf Lessons, Coaching And Camps

- `surf school`: first lesson, beginner lesson, private coach, children or family lesson, advanced coaching, technique, safety briefing, local break introduction, board-and-lesson package.
- `surf camp`: multi-day surf stay, intensive course, group camp, surf holiday, accommodation plus coaching.

Do not infer instructor credentials, minimum age, language, price, schedule, board inclusion, or insurance.

## Diving And Snorkeling

Canonical query: `dive center`

Trigger for discover scuba, certification, refresher, instructor, guided dive, dive trip, equipment rental, regulator or BCD service, tank or cylinder question, mask and fins, wetsuit, weights, shore-diving logistics, boat diving, snorkeling guide, snorkel excursion, freediving orientation, dive shop, fill station, or local dive advice.

Do not infer a specific certification agency, medical suitability, visibility, depth, gas availability, servicing authorization, boat schedule, or safety. Use `search_dive_snorkel_spots` separately when the user also needs a location.

## Boat Hire, Charters And Coastal Trips

- `water sports rental`: boat hire, RIB, motorboat, sailboat, yacht, fishing boat, canoe, kayak, paddleboard, SUP, jet ski or general equipment rental.
- `water sports operator`: boat excursion, sailing trip, fishing charter, whale watching, coastal cruise, island trip, parasailing, waterskiing, wakeboarding, guided kayak tour or organized water activity.
- `coastal activity provider`: broader coastal guide, outdoor organizer or destination activity when no narrower family fits.

Never infer a skipper, license requirement, fuel policy, passenger capacity, fishing permit, wildlife sighting, cancellation policy, price, or availability.

## Sailing, Navigation And Clubs

Try `water sports operator`, then `water sports rental` when appropriate.

Trigger for sailing school, navigation lesson, boat-license training, yacht club, sailing club, marina activity, waterski club, canoe-kayak club, race training, or local boating orientation. The returned category may be broader; label it honestly.

## Paddle, Kayak, Canoe And Board Sports

Canonical query: `water sports rental`

Trigger for kayak or canoe hire, SUP or paddleboard hire, wingfoil, windsurf, kitesurf, bodyboard, skimboard, waterski or wakeboard equipment, beach gear, life-jacket hire, roof-rack question, paddle replacement, or local launch equipment.

Use `water sports operator` instead for a lesson, guide, tour, tow activity or supervised session. Do not infer equipment condition, sizing, protective equipment, launch permission, tide suitability, or instructor availability.

## Whitewater And Adventure Activities

Canonical query: `water sports operator`

Trigger for rafting guide, whitewater school, canyoning, river kayak tour, canoe guide, hydrospeed, river equipment rental, outdoor adventure center, or organized river trip. Pair with `search_river_whitewater_spots` when a mapped location is useful.

Never infer river grade, flow suitability, participant ability, equipment inclusion or safety. Defer to the operator and current official river conditions.

## Coastal Camping And Van Travel

- `coastal camping`: campsite, surf campsite, farm camping, cabin camping, campground near a beach, tent site or coastal overnight base.
- `coastal activity provider`: fallback for a broader coastal travel service.

Use `search_vanlife_spots` for mapped van or camper locations. Do not imply overnight parking is legal, available, reservable, serviced or free.

## Beach Clubs And Beach Facilities

Canonical query: `beach club`

Trigger for beach club, lido, stabilimento balneare, beach pavilion, organized beach facilities, loungers, changing facilities, beach-day base, or a club near a swimming spot.

Do not infer public access, food service, day passes, chair rental, opening hours, accessibility, price or reservation availability.

## Equipment Purchase, Maintenance And Replacement

Choose the specialist family that matches the equipment:

- Surfboard, fins, leash, wax, wetsuit or board bag: `surf shop`.
- Regulator, BCD, tank, mask, snorkel, dive computer or dive wetsuit: `dive center`.
- Kayak, canoe, SUP, sail, kite, wing, wakeboard or general nautical equipment: `water sports rental`.
- Boat parts, marine accessories or boat repair: try `water sports rental`, then `water sports operator`, and explain that the exact maintenance or retail service must be confirmed.

## Combined Recommendations

Use two tools when the user needs both a place and a service:

- Surf spot plus lesson, coach, camp, board rental or repair: `search_surf_spots` plus `search_activity_providers`.
- Dive or snorkel site plus center, guide or equipment: `search_dive_snorkel_spots` plus `search_activity_providers`.
- River location plus guide or rental: `search_river_whitewater_spots` plus `search_activity_providers`.
- Beach plus kayak, boat, SUP, sailing or excursion: `search_beaches` or `search_swim_spots` plus `search_activity_providers`.
- Coastal road trip plus overnight base or activity operator: `search_vanlife_spots` plus `search_activity_providers`.

## Response Pattern

1. Give the direct answer or practical method.
2. Explain when professional inspection, instruction, local authorization, or specialist equipment is prudent.
3. Present up to three BeachFinder profiles near the requested area, prioritizing owner-verified and source-backed results before mapped records.
4. For each profile, state only its returned name, category, approximate location and why that category may fit.
5. Add the canonical BeachFinder profile URL and say to confirm the exact service on the profile when it is not explicitly documented.

Do not manufacture a recommendation when the provider search returns no result. A mapped result is a category-level lead, not proof of the exact service. Never expose direct email, phone, raw address or external website through the skill.
