# The Beauty Inside (Intel · 2012)

## Insight
Intel's brand problem: consumers never see the chip, never think about it, and cannot easily articulate why Intel's chips matter over competitors'. The insight is that identity is what's inside — not what's outside. A character who wakes up every day in a different body, but is always the same person inside, is the most literal possible expression of "Intel Inside."

## Mechanic
A six-episode social film series about Alex, a person who wakes up each day in a different body — different age, gender, race, physical appearance — but maintains a continuous inner identity. The twist: any Facebook user can apply to star in the series as one of Alex's bodies. 107 people were cast via Facebook submissions. The films were shot and released over six weeks. Over 70 million total social reach. Won Cannes Grand Prix for branded content.

## Why it worked
P18 (tech as canvas): Facebook's casting infrastructure is the technology — without social media participation mechanics, this is a conventional film. With it, it becomes a social object. P16 (long-form drama): six episodes allow genuine character development; Alex's search for human connection despite a fractured physical identity is an emotionally complete story. The brand metaphor — identity is what's inside, not what's visible — maps precisely onto Intel's positioning without a single product shot.

## Steal
Find a human story whose emotional truth is a direct metaphor for your product's functional proposition. The beauty inside is not a tagline — it is the film's actual dramatic premise. When the metaphor and the story are the same thing, the brand message lands without advertising.
