# Da Da Ding (Nike India · 2016)

## Insight
Indian female athletes are nearly invisible in mainstream media and advertising. Cricket dominates; women's sport barely exists in cultural consciousness. Nike India needed to make female athleticism visible — not in a global aspirational way but in a specifically Indian, visceral, unmissable way.

## Mechanic
A high-energy film featuring Indian female athletes across sports — kabaddi, boxing, football, surfing, wrestling, running — cut to an original track "Da Da Ding" by Generationals, produced specifically for the campaign. The music-video format at 90 seconds, made for mobile consumption. Shot with cinematic intensity that Indian sports advertising had never applied to women.

## Why it worked
P16 (long-form drama) as music video — the format borrowed from entertainment, not advertising, which made it feel like a cultural document rather than a campaign. P13 (truth-telling) through sheer visibility: showing Indian women in these sports at this level of production was itself the news. The track became independently popular. The campaign was the most-viewed Nike film in India at the time.

## Steal
In markets where a demographic is invisible in your category, visibility at high production quality is itself the message. The statement "you exist, and you're extraordinary" is made through the decision to show, not through what the film says.
