It talks over you, drowns you out, undermines everything you say. The stain is not just a problem; it's an adversary with an agenda. ## Mechanic Super Bowl spot: a man in a stain-covered shirt gives a job interview. Every time he speaks, the stain itself speaks louder — gargling, babbling, completely overwhelming his words. The interviewer only hears the stain. Tide presented as the solution to this betrayal. ## Why it worked Giving the stain a voice turned an abstract anxiety (looking unprofessional) into a vivid enemy with agency. The premise was absurd but emotionally true — a stain really does speak for you. The Super Bowl context amplified the stakes and the comedy simultaneously. ## Steal Abstract anxieties become unforgettable when personified as antagonists with specific agendas. The stain didn't just embarrass; it actively sabotaged. Find the enemy your product eliminates and give it a personality. ## Related - Pattern: [[../MOC-pattern.md#p11]] - Sibling: [[metro-trains-dumb-ways-to-die-2012.md|Dumb Ways to Die]] - Sibling: [[old-spice-man-your-man-could-smell-like-2010.md|The Man Your Man Could Smell Like]] - Emotion match: [[absolut-absolut-campaign-1981.md|Absolut _____]] --- *Author: Serge Shima ([t.me/aimastersme](https://t.me/aimastersme) · [sergeshima.com](https://sergeshima.com) · [aimasters.me](https://aimasters.me)) · License: CC BY 4.0 — attribution required · Source: [smixs/creative-director-skill](https://github.com/smixs/creative-director-skill)*
