The store is never the point; the life being constructed is. ## Mechanic A long-form film following characters across significant life moments — the home as the stage for human drama. The home improvement retailer is present only through the backdrop of spaces being transformed and lives being lived in them. ## Why it worked Long-form drama (P16) allows a DIY retailer to escape functional product territory entirely and occupy emotional territory — belonging, aspiration, growth — that makes the brand feel like a life partner rather than a hardware store. The product is invisible; the promise is everything. ## Steal Retail brands can exit product communication entirely through long-form storytelling that positions them as enablers of life chapters rather than sellers of goods. The store becomes a supporting character, never the protagonist. ## Related - Pattern: [[../MOC-pattern.md#p16]] - Sibling: [[apple-1984-1984.md|1984]] - Sibling: [[apple-think-different-1997.md|Think Different]] --- *Author: Serge Shima ([t.me/aimastersme](https://t.me/aimastersme) · [sergeshima.com](https://sergeshima.com) · [aimasters.me](https://aimasters.me)) · License: CC BY 4.0 — attribution required · Source: [smixs/creative-director-skill](https://github.com/smixs/creative-director-skill)*
