# Ostrich (Samsung · 2017)

## Insight
VR's promise is not escapism — it is the expansion of what's possible. An animal that cannot fly can use VR to experience what it's biologically denied. That's not absurd; that's the truest possible demonstration of what VR is for.

## Mechanic
An ostrich finds a Samsung Gear VR headset and uses it to experience flight. The experience transforms the bird — it begins to run, builds speed, and eventually becomes airborne for real. The film ends with the ostrich actually flying, as if the VR made it possible.

## Why it worked
The absurdist premise (an ostrich using VR) delivers a genuinely emotional message about potential and possibility. The creature's transformation from passive viewer to active flyer mirrors the brand's promise without stating it. The craft is extraordinary; the idea is simple.

## Steal
When your product's benefit is abstract (possibility, potential, freedom), find the most extreme literal embodiment of that benefit in the natural world. Then ask: what happens when you give that creature your product?
