Nike's brand stands with the latter — the improviser, not the algorithm. ## Mechanic A six-minute animated film, released ahead of the 2014 World Cup, featuring a cast of Nike footballer characters (Ronaldo, Ribery, Rooney, Neymar animated likenesses) facing a future where cloned, risk-free athletes have replaced the originals. The natural players must come out of retirement for one last game to prove that risk is worth it. ## Why it worked Animation freed the brand from the limits of real-world production while retaining the personalities of actual world stars. The film functions as a manifesto: Nike explicitly sides with flair over safety, instinct over optimization. Six minutes earned because the world was already paying attention to football. ## Steal For global sporting events, build a narrative that takes a clear position in the debate audiences are already having. Not "we support the event" — but "we have an opinion about what this event means." Position the brand inside the conversation, not around it. ## Related - Pattern: [[../MOC-pattern.md#p16]] - Sibling: [[apple-1984-1984.md|1984]] - Sibling: [[apple-think-different-1997.md|Think Different]] --- *Author: Serge Shima ([t.me/aimastersme](https://t.me/aimastersme) · [sergeshima.com](https://sergeshima.com) · [aimasters.me](https://aimasters.me)) · License: CC BY 4.0 — attribution required · Source: [smixs/creative-director-skill](https://github.com/smixs/creative-director-skill)*
