Research suggested that music reduces stress in dogs. What if there was a radio station playing music specifically composed and selected for the auditory range and stress patterns of dogs? ## Mechanic Pedigree launched K9FM — a 24/7 radio station broadcasting exclusively for dogs at shelters. Music was purpose-composed at frequencies and rhythms scientifically calibrated for canine anxiety. The absurdist premise (a radio station with no human audience) generated enormous PR; the underlying welfare intervention was genuinely real. ## Why it worked Absurdism (P11): the premise is inherently ridiculous — a radio station nobody listens to — but the execution was rigorous and caring. The joke and the genuine welfare intervention operated simultaneously, which made the campaign feel warm rather than cynical. ## Steal Absurdist premises that contain a sincere act of care are more powerful than purely comedic ones. The audience laughs and then feels something — the humour is the delivery mechanism for the sincerity, not a substitute for it. ## Related - Pattern: [[../MOC-pattern.md#p11]] - Sibling: [[metro-trains-dumb-ways-to-die-2012.md|Dumb Ways to Die]] - Sibling: [[old-spice-man-your-man-could-smell-like-2010.md|The Man Your Man Could Smell Like]] - Emotion match: [[absolut-absolut-campaign-1981.md|Absolut _____]] --- *Author: Serge Shima ([t.me/aimastersme](https://t.me/aimastersme) · [sergeshima.com](https://sergeshima.com) · [aimasters.me](https://aimasters.me)) · License: CC BY 4.0 — attribution required · Source: [smixs/creative-director-skill](https://github.com/smixs/creative-director-skill)*
