What if the pitch deck itself became the product demo? ## Mechanic Spotify presented its advertising capabilities to media buyers as a fully interactive spreadsheet (Google Sheets) where every cell was a clickable music experience — the spreadsheet became a musical instrument demonstrating Spotify's audio targeting, playlist context, and emotional range. ## Why it worked Tech as canvas meets design as idea: the format inversion (spreadsheet as music player) was the demo. B2B advertising typically ignores the format of its communication. By making the format the message, Spotify turned a sales document into a talked-about creative piece. ## Steal In B2B contexts, the format of your pitch is almost always ignored. Find a format that is the opposite of what's expected, then make that format demonstrate the product. The surprise is disproportionate because expectations are so low. ## Related - Pattern: [[../MOC-pattern.md#p18]] - Sibling: [[snickers-hungerithm-2016.md|Hungerithm]] - Sibling: [[tuvalu-the-first-digital-nation-2022.md|The First Digital Nation]] - Emotion match: [[absolut-absolut-campaign-1981.md|Absolut _____]] --- *Author: Serge Shima ([t.me/aimastersme](https://t.me/aimastersme) · [sergeshima.com](https://sergeshima.com) · [aimasters.me](https://aimasters.me)) · License: CC BY 4.0 — attribution required · Source: [smixs/creative-director-skill](https://github.com/smixs/creative-director-skill)*
