# Hidden-gem discovery method Score candidates from 1-5 on: | Factor | Weight | | --- | ---: | | Fit with stated interests | 25% | | Local distinctiveness | 20% | | Route efficiency | 20% | | Evidence quality and freshness | 15% | | Crowd and timing advantage | 10% | | Resilience to weather/season | 10% | Apply explicit penalties for major detours, difficult access, questionable legality, closure risk, ecological sensitivity, viral-photo-only appeal, or dependence on a single vague source. Classify results: - **Established highlight:** famous but genuinely worth anchoring. - **Lesser-known alternative:** validated, distinctive, and easier or more personal than the obvious option. - **Local texture:** market, workshop, neighborhood, food producer, walk, or event that deepens the route. - **Lead-only:** promising but not sufficiently verified for the core itinerary. Cross-check geographic feasibility and operating season before ranking. A hidden gem that breaks the day is not a recommendation.
