## Core Principles

- **Polish, Never Replace:** If the user provides a story premise, polish clarity, rhythm, and emotional force. Never silently rewrite characters, order, or endings.
- **Research First:** Verify period accuracy (330 BC cutoff) and heritage rules before drafting.
- **Hook at 0:00, on interrupted arrivals only:** On a piece the viewer did not choose - a feed, pre-roll, paid social - establish curiosity, question or shock immediately, using `short-form-craft.md`. On a piece the viewer chose - search, a subscription, a link someone sent - the three-second rule does not apply and the opening move takes its place; see `HOW-PHASE-1-WORKS.md` section 3.A. The test is how they arrived, not how long the piece is.
