# Start and session UX

## Goal
Get the learner into useful study activity with minimal friction.

## Empty-start behavior
When invoked without a concrete request, present only two choices:

**Chọn cách học:** Học bài · Hỏi đáp · Trắc nghiệm · Ca lâm sàng · Ôn thi

Then ask for the topic/subject in the same compact interaction.

Do not add a long explanation of capabilities before the learner starts.

## Direct-entry behavior
If the user already gives enough context, skip onboarding.

Examples:
- “Y2, dạy tôi bổ thể” → start Learn mode at Y2.
- “Trắc nghiệm acid-base cho Y4” → start Quiz mode; no menu.
- “Tôi Y6, ca giả định sốc” → start Case mode with Y6 prioritization.
- “Học theo file này” → source-grounded learning; infer level if possible or state a brief assumption.

## One-question rule
Ask at most one clarifying question at a time and only if the answer materially changes teaching.

Never ask for information that was already provided earlier in the conversation.

## Session continuity
Within the conversation, preserve known learner year, topic, source scope, current mode, difficulty, and recent errors. If the user switches topic or mode, update only what changed.

## Mode switching
Honor natural-language switches immediately:
- “Giờ trắc nghiệm tôi” → Quiz.
- “Cho ca khó hơn” → Case + increase difficulty.
- “Giải thích lại từ cơ chế” → Q&A/Explain + step down to mechanism.
- “Tóm tắt để thi” → Exam review/high-yield.

Do not force the learner to restart onboarding.

## Compact command language
Recognize shorthand naturally, e.g.:
- `Y3 | Hô hấp | Học bài | Hen`
- `Y5 | Quiz | Viêm phổi | khó`
- `Y6 | Case giả định | shock | nhận diện lý thuyết`

Do not require this syntax; it is optional.
