Making that scale tangible requires a medium that operates at that scale. The technology is the canvas that no other brand could use. ## Mechanic IBM scientists used a scanning tunneling microscope to move individual atoms, frame by frame, to create the world's smallest stop-motion film — a boy playing with a single carbon monoxide atom. Certified by Guinness World Records as the smallest film ever made. ## Why it worked The technology (atomic manipulation) is the craft and the message simultaneously. P08 (Craft as Message): the execution at the atomic scale demonstrates IBM's research capability better than any claim. P18 (Tech as Canvas): the STM is not just used by IBM — it IS IBM's work, made visible for the first time. ## Steal When your organisation works at a scale that most people cannot perceive, find a way to make that scale visible without simplifying it. The awe of the actual is more effective than any metaphor. ## Related - Pattern: [[../MOC-pattern.md#p18]] - Sibling: [[snickers-hungerithm-2016.md|Hungerithm]] - Sibling: [[tuvalu-the-first-digital-nation-2022.md|The First Digital Nation]] - Emotion match: [[guinness-surfer-1999.md|Surfer]] --- *Author: Serge Shima ([t.me/aimastersme](https://t.me/aimastersme) · [sergeshima.com](https://sergeshima.com) · [aimasters.me](https://aimasters.me)) · License: CC BY 4.0 — attribution required · Source: [smixs/creative-director-skill](https://github.com/smixs/creative-director-skill)*
