Nike owns that space; channelling it into voter engagement is the only non-hypocritical call to action the brand can make. ## Mechanic Nike turned the Swoosh into a voting symbol during the 2018 US midterms — integrated campaign with athlete-led content, social amplification, and a direct voter-registration mechanic. Users could interact and share pledges tied to the brand's Equality platform. ## Why it worked The Swoosh is already a cultural badge of identity for the demographic Nike was reaching. Attaching voter registration to that badge made the ask feel native, not corporate. P09 (user as co-author) scaled reach through personal sharing; P04 (brand as activist) gave it credibility by linking to Nike's existing Equality work, not arriving from nowhere. ## Steal If your brand has a pre-existing cultural symbol with genuine meaning for an audience, you can load that symbol with new civic weight without explaining yourself. The symbol does the persuading; you only need to point. ## Related - Pattern: [[../MOC-pattern.md#p09]] - Sibling: [[red-bull-stratos-2012.md|Stratos]] - Sibling: [[snickers-hungerithm-2016.md|Hungerithm]] --- *Author: Serge Shima ([t.me/aimastersme](https://t.me/aimastersme) · [sergeshima.com](https://sergeshima.com) · [aimasters.me](https://aimasters.me)) · License: CC BY 4.0 — attribution required · Source: [smixs/creative-director-skill](https://github.com/smixs/creative-director-skill)*
