# Subtitles for the cut

The `.ass` skeleton and the style live in `subtitles-and-cut` — `get_skill_file("subtitles-and-cut", "ass-skeleton.md")`.

Timing rule for a script cut: one cue per beat, start = the sum of the previous beats'
`length` (the shot list's column: `seconds`, or the rounded-up `speech s` where route B
extended a clip — the padded beat, not any one file, and `read_project` has `seconds` only for
items the app has placed and saved, so the shot list is the working record, and the mix
pass pads and trims each beat to it), end = start + that beat's `length`. Never let two cues
overlap. Keep the Hindi (or any non-Latin) text as written in the script — `Noto Sans` in
the style renders it; a Latin-only font would show boxes.
